Ku Aloha Ola Mau (Ku Aloha) has served more than 13,000 persons dealing with substance and alcohol abuse and addiction since 1976. Our compassionate, holistic approach to recovery centers around each participant or "haumana" (student), with the belief that anyone can recover from addiction. We have locations in Honolulu, Hilo and Puna. Approximately 400 persons are served daily, with more than half of these on Hawai`i Island. Our haumana seek recovery from addictions to substances including heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription drugs, alcohol, marijuana, a combination of these drugs and other drugs of abuse. We know that both addiction and recovery do not happen in isolation, and that family members, children and loved ones are also in need of healing and recovery. While addiction can destroy even the most successful of families, the recovery process can help to deepen family members' strength and understanding. Ku Aloha provides a comprehensive program, offering mental health counseling, medication assisted treatment (including methadone, suboxone to assist in the recovery process. Having meaning and purpose in life, healing relationships, a sense of stability and ability to make positive choices and to be happy and productive is the goal.
