Just wanted to share my negative experience with Fitzgerald's Restaurant in Holyoke. I placed my order at 6:30pm for 2 Chicken Caesar Salads, add Tomatoes, and a Chicken Cutlet Grinder with Fries. They said the order would be ready in 20 minutes. I left my house,which is right around the corner, at 6:47pm. I arrived a few minutes later and paid, and then waited until 7:17pm. So already I've waited at least 40 minutes for salads and a grinder. When I got home and opened the bag first thing I notice is my fries are not there. Then I open the salads and there are no tomatoes. So I call the restaurant and after speaking with the manager she tells me will they will deliver 2 new salads with tomatoes and the missing fries. The driver shows up a few minutes later but instead of 2 new salads with tomatoes they bring a cup of diced tomatoes and the fries. Not to mention the fact that the lettuce In the salads was all wilted. $32.51 for a couple of disgusting salads, and horrible customer service. Not even an apology.

This is the kind of place where you can show up in your old tee shirt, put your elbows on the table and enjoy a cold beer.



We love fried whole belly clams. However, I found there are two types of whole belly lovers: those who like small clams, and those like us who love clams with big, fat juicy bellies.



Schermerhorn's serves the type we love--big clams with luscious tasty bellies. They're served over French fries, and for the life of me I don't know how they do it, but the fries remain crisp till the bitter end.



The tartar sauce is good, as well as the coleslaw.



Trust me, you will be absolutely stuffed when you finish.



However, if you are a group of 4 or more, I highly recommend that you begin with their deep fried dill pickle chips for all to share. They may not appear on the menu, but they will make them upon request. Delicious!



The only thing I don't understand about this restaurant is why their menu is so large. I think they should just concentrate on their seafood, rather than offering such things as spaghetti and other unrelated items. My thought is they should stick with seafood, for they are both a retailer and wholesaler of these items.



As for others mentioning less than courteous service, we can only say that our servers were always friendly and hospitable.



In closing, I also note that the majority of reviews are quite old, so I'm sure that any prior problems encountered by others have long since been rectified.



And just writing this review already has my mouth watering for another trip up to get some fried whole bellies!

if you want to eat seafood this place is Awesome, have to check it out is no joke isis really good:-)!!!!!!

took my wife and kids there for mothers day. once you walk in you have to order and pay for your meal before your seated. it gets better, ordered the crab cakes, 25 to 30 mins later they arrived. they had no taste to them. 30 mins later the main dishes arrive. my son had a hotdog and fries. he said it was cold. my teenage son and i had the cajun shrimp and steak. cajun shrimp was cold, steak was over cooked. dont get me wrong i know they are a seafood restruant but wtf if you cant make a simple surf and turf dish dont offer it on your prepaid menu. my wife had stuffed shrimp and steak. steak over cooked and shrimp dry and had no taste. even the butter didnt help her shrimp. the service was horrible. not once did any witresses come around and see how we are doing or how our meals were. i guess thats why they have customers pay first so they cant get a refund. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DON'T GO HERE. IT F---ING SUCKS

Used to be the best seafood in Wmass. Stayed away for 6+ months after 2 low quality take out meals in a row. Had to return and get my money back today, 8/25/09, after purchasing a dead lobster and half a bag of dead steamer clams. Manager refused to see me, instructed his clerk to return my money.
