General Info
Hawaiian Crown Hilo is rebranding to Mahi‘ai Made! Mahi‘ai (pronounced like “mah-he eye”) is the Hawaiian word for “farmer” or “to cultivate.” Hawaiian Crown was created by master farmer Tom Menezes and his business partners, back when they grew 100 acres of pineapple on the island of O‘ahu. Hence the Crown aspect! In recent years, the pineapples have unfortunately been phased out due to the high cost of maintenance and those O‘ahu partners have retired. Tom's daughter, Oona, has stepped into ownership with him and undergone the rebranding efforts as a way to honor the company’s grass roots and her father’s lifelong dedication to sustainable farming in Hawai‘i. Our little factory + shop offers "tree-to-bar" craft chocolates made of Hawaiian cacao, a variety of samples, European style drinking chocolate, Hawaiian coffee, dried fruits, macadamia nuts, and baked goods (when available). Great for stocking up and gifts or omiyage! For Farm Tours- see our website for more info!Hawaiian Crown Hilo is rebranding to Mahi‘ai Made!
