Thai Top Restaurant

I had just returned from a trip to Thailand and only recently introduced to Thai food. Walked to Thai Top for dinner and described what I was looking for (that I fell in love with in Thailand) ""Thai Basil and Chili Tofu"". It was not on the menu, but she made it for me anyways! It was WONDERFUL. And later came back for my standard Pad Thai and again, very very good. They will flavor to taste if you don't want it to HOT. And of course they have my favorite imported beer Singha, from Thailand. :) I found it a great place and will go back.

The service was lack luster, but I didn't expect much from a Hermosa Beach establishment anyway. The food on the other hand was very flavorful and the temperature of the food was not warm but HOT HOT HOT. That is so nice to see in a restaurant intead of the teped temperatures that they feel is exceptable to serve at. All flavors of all foods melded together beautifully.

Don't go here as the food is disgusting! The beef Penang looked and tasted more like soup it was so watery. We ordered 3 dishes and a soup (2 soups if you counted the Penang) and could only finish half of the Pad Thai noodles. The rest was inedible. My wife had to go to get a sandwich afterwards and I had to get a slice of pizza. As far as cleanliness is concerned, well let's put it this way, I felt like I was in Thailand and that's no compliment. I should have known that there was a problem when I walked in and the restaurant had no lights on and was dimly lit. The Larb tasted like salt with some chicken mixed in to give it some flavor. The Tom Yum Gai was sweet like iced tea. I don't know where the other reviewers were eating but it sure wasn't here.

I have been to Thai and Chinese resturants around the L.A. area. This was as good of food as I found anywhere. I was plesantly suprised to find it tucked away in Hermosa Beach. The only bad thing we noticed was that the service was terrible. There were only two other tables with people and it still took nearly 20 minutes to get a waiter to take our order. That trend continued through the evening. Slow service all night, but great food.

I live right around the corner from Thai Top in Hermosa. There must be 50 resturants within walking distance, but I find myself eating at Thai Top at least once a week. The Pad Thai, Curry Fried rice and Beef Sate are sooooo good. Make sure to try the peanut sauce. We usually get delivery which is very fast. The portions are awesome and it's such a deal. Highly recommended!
