Skipwith Elementary School serves approximately 400 students in grades one through five. It offers academic programs in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The school additionally conducts art, music and physical education classes. Skipwith Elementary School offers English as a Second language and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) programs, as well as gifted and talented education. Its staff is comprised of social workers, psychologists, and occupational and physical therapists. The school has a library where students check out books, participate in book fairs, and research, read and discuss stories and novels. Its library also offers an accelerated reader program that motivates children to read and remember what they read. In addition, the school supports a parent-teacher association.
