Founded in 1991, Theracare of New York is a multiservice health care, rehabilitation, developmental and educational organization that serves children and families throughout Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange, Nassau and Suffolk counties in New York, as well as New Jersey and Connecticut. It offers several services, including consultation, early intervention, case management and applied behavior analysis. Its committee on the preschool special education program conducts evaluation and physical and speech therapies sessions for children between the ages of 3 and 5. Theracare of New York also organizes workshops and seminars on several issues related to incidental teaching, classroom management, overview of autism and strategies for increasing language skills. Additionally, it maintains a medical staffing division that specializes in per diem, full- and part-time nurse and allied health placements in hospitals, clinics and nursing homes.
