I visited this restaurant based on the recommendation of a friend. This was by far the worst experience ever. To say that the service was subpar is an understatement. Upon arrival at the location, the place was chaotic. No clear direction of where to stand as you wait to be seated. Once at the table, our waitress, whom clearly had a cold, kept sniffling the entire time she was taking our orders. She then proceeded to wipe the snot from her nose and wipe it on her pants, as she is jotting down our requests. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken, I took one bite and could not bear to take another. ABSOLUTELY TASTELESS! If you are concerned with a restaurant where you would enjoy cleanliness and tasty food, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO EAT.
HANDS DOWN!! The biggest egg rolls ever...its nice to visit home from NYC (and go eat at china doll with my family), where the egg rolls are quarter of the size. China Doll is legend :)

To this Chinese food lover, there is no better place to have chinese. Their Lo Mein is out of this world. Sometimes the service can be a little slow, depending on who you get, but most of the time it isn't that bad.I've never had a bad meal here, ever.
Two items and rice or noodles for 4.75 can't be beat. The food is good not what you think you would get for the money. I just wish you could get a egg roll for one of your choices.
We don't live in NO any longer, but when we're close enough, we make sure to eat at least once at the China Doll. We've traveled a bit & never found Chinese food that we like nearly as well as the China Doll's, not even close! The egg rolls are delicious, with a noticeable amount of meat, so they can be filling-share an order! = ) The menu has a variety of delicious choices, all well-prepared, so it's hard to pick a favorite. Go & enjoy!!
I will never, I repeat never eat here again. The egg drop soup was nasty. How do you mess up egg drop soup? The chicken under-done. Lastly, there was a roach on the table next to us. Nasty, nasty, nasty!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a longtime fan of China Doll. The food is exquisite there. The egg rolls have real meat in them instead of cabbage and carrots. The fried rice is quality and has a great flavor to it (so different than elsewhere). My favorite dishes have always been the Moo Goo Gai Pan and the Triple Dragon (which is essentially Moo Goo Gai Pan with Pork and Shrimp added alongside the Chicken). The atmosphere is beautiful and serene, and the owners and management are friendly and accomodating. They are so accomodating, in fact, that the main owner remembers me every single time I return and greets me by name. This is important, since I've lived in Florida for 5 years now and have been back twice since.
I have not found a better Chinese restaurant and I have found that guests who have no taste or a dislike for Chinese food end up enjoying it by the time they walk out the door. This restaurant is not only my favorite, it's an addiction.
Oh my god, they have the best food. It is always hot and fresh. Their egg rolls are to die for!
I love China Doll things that i love is the
1.Cho Cho's
2.Shrimp Fried Rice
3.Bonus Chicken
4.Empress Lo'mien
5.Egg rolls
Its very good food its my fav Chinese place!!
if your looking for a strong Mai Tai it's the place to be, it is totally the bomb and I suggest your try the china doll rice and the cashew chicken along with the tidbit tray and all will be satisfied.
I am not super picky about Chinese food so with all the good reviews I had read about this place I was sure I was going to get a decent meal...this was not the case. The sweet and sour chicken looked and tasted like dog food and the beef in the beef with broccoli was most definitely grade D. I was so disappointed that we had wasted $35 food on what was the worst Chinese ever. We literally fed it to the dog.
i just vistied china doll on today! i got in and out in about 15 minutes. the staff was excellent and friendly. I highly reccomend the cho chos and the combination rice! its the best!
The food here is not that great at all. I've tasted much better before. The beef in the Pepper Steak is chewy and non-tasty. The fried rice is decent but I've tasted much better before. The only thing there that is pretty good is the appetizers. I highly recommend Lan's Palace instead, they have THE BEST fried rice and best beef and chicken. Their fried chinese wings are also unique and tasty.
Overall, China Doll's food quality is below average. It's okay when you're hungry but I do not recommend this restaurant.
They have the most exquisite food ever. You definitely get your moneys worth. The fried rice is the best I have ever tasted along with the crab ragoon. The atmosphere couldn't be better and service is top notch. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is a chinese food lover. THE BEST!!
China doll has by far the best chinese food on the westbank. It is always crowded on the weekends and they somehow still manage to seat you immediately. Awesome place to eat!
It can be a great dining experience for all. Fast seating, great staff, appetizers and drinks within 15 minutes.
Romantic lighting for the couples but just enough lighting so the children don't fall asleep in the relaxing atmosphere.
But if you want take out, call it in about 2 hrs before you plan to eat.
My favs;
Cho Chos, of course. Over stuffed with at least 3 meats and shrimp.
Eggrolls are the bomb. Don't order a big dish if you get the eggrolls
General Tso,
Combonation fried rice,
and a couple of Pina Coladas.
Make sure someone else is driving because their PC and Mai Tai will knock you to the ground.
I have tried plenty of chinese restaurants china doll has the best no one else seems to satisfy my taste when it comes to chinese food.
I have lived in New Jersey, Florida and New Orleans, Louisiana. China Doll, is by far, the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. In fact, when my boyfriend goes to N.O., He brings me back Pork Lomein in a ziploc! They have the best tasting wonton soup, with slightly sweet peices of pork and tasty noodles. Their Crab Ragoon is to die for. Egg rolls are filled with sweet pork and crispy veggies. The service is phenomenal-and the price is moderate. New York restaurants just can't compare!
You must try this restaurant at least once, and make sure you order the Crab Rangoon for an appetizer. It is cream cheese, crab, and seasonings (garlic, etc), fried in a triangle-shaped won-ton. Also, for dessert, order fried banana with ice cream and honey, it will settle you in for the night. :) And, for the daring drinker, order a Mai Tai, it will knock you tipsy.
