On April 6th, tired and hungry after an evening at the stable, we decided to try a new place, and stopped at the Corn Patch for dinner. The evening specialty was ribeye, so we tried it. When we told the waitress the steaks were tough and full of gristle, her reply was "They can't be, they were hand cut"! We were shocked, but said nothing. When we were leaving, I made the same mention to the Cashier, who looked at us in amazement and said "They couldn't be, they're hand cut ribeye". Tough steak is about how long it hung at the locker, not how it was cut; gristle is about breeding, not about hand cutting. $48 later, we walked out in shock, still hungry, and ended up hitting a fast food restaurant down the street for a meal. Expensive lesson, but we won't forget it. NOTHING was offered as compensation except attitude and lack on knowledge. My father was a butcher and a cattle farmer. "Hand Cut" has the LEAST to do with steak.

The best decision I ever made!

What a great find! The Corn Patch is a family run place with emphasis on great food at a great value. Head to one of the chain places and you're not going to get fresh steaks cut by hand daily and cooked to perfection. Not to mention the potato soup served with every dinner. I would like a chemist to sneak a cup of this stuff out of the "Patch" so I can make it at home. Cudos to the Schwieso family for 25 years of great food, great service and for running a place that makes the drive to Iowa a lot more tolerable.
