Dr. Smiths office was very professional and pleasant. The few years I was treated by Dr. Smith I felt I could be very honest with him and he seemed compassionate and understanding and had me on a drug regimen that truly made me feel I had my life back and I was very happy with his care and completely trusted him. The time came when I moved in my first apartment and for the first time I was alone. I have a major depressive disorder with severe anxiety. After about a month I completely felt severely depressed like I was having a nervous breakdown. I thought I was going to a dual diagnosis center that could help me get out of the dark hole I was in. It turned out after I got to Wilmington Treatment Center I became aware it was basically a drug and alcohol rehab. I only ended up staying two weeks because I became I'll and had to be hospitalized because my pulse oxygen was in the 70's. I was hospitalized for a week. When I got back to Greenville I agreed with Dr. Smith to try suboxen to see if it worked for me. It did not. I tried explaining this to Dr. Smith but felt he was not believing me or wasn't listening. I never abused my pain meds nor did I ever have a urine test that did not coordinate with what I was being prescribed. At my next appointment I saw a nurse practitioner and was very frustrated and in so much pain. She told me Dr. Smith was never going to put me on my regular drug regimen. I was crying and just felt like giving up. I did wrong when I said I may as well go home and put a bullet in my head. I left and pulled the door to hard behind me and it slammed. I went back to apologize for my emotional outburst. I was then told Dr. Smith was dismissing me. I even sent him an email with my sincere apologies and asked him to please give me another chance. I never got a response. I felt alone, deserted, betrayed and lost. It has been a year with no pain medication and I have been disabled and on pain meds for over 21 years. This last year has been hell for me.

I have been going here for over 8 years. The staff is courteous and helpful. Dr Billy Smith is one of my favorite doctors. I actually have extreme anxiety with doctors and therefore miss a lot of my other appointments. But this office has made me comfortable since the day that I arrived. If a pain management doctor is needed I highly recommend this office!
