We decided to try this restaurant this evening on the way back from the mountains, and were quite impressed. It's a little away from the main track, but you'll be rewarded for making the trip. We had our two children (8 yr olds) and my parents with us (not sure which are harder to please!) but we all walked away full and satisfied. Other reviews have pointed out the varied menu and freshness of the cuisine, and we can echo these comments. An amuse-bouche of corn soup laced with bacon smoke arrived promptly and tantalized us for what was to come. The appetizer ordered by my 80-year-old father was declared the best calamari he had ever had, and my 8-year-old son said the same (though, with far less experience under his belt). My wife's ostrich filet was prepared superbly, on the rare side, and with the accompanying cherry sauce was a perfect match with a 2007 Twelve pinot noir from Oregon. My trout was a little on the dry side, but the interesting combination of shiitake mushrooms plus capers in the sauce made up for most of the difference. Desserts were consistent, with a thin but chewy-moist ginger bread pudding and the childrens' homemade coconut sorbet stealing the show. Courvoisier was served after dinner WARMED in goblets.....how many other times have restaurants seemed to have forgotten this critical aspect of serving an after-dinner cognac? We will definitely think of this place again when passing through the Triad. On a final note, other reviewers have commented on Marisol's high prices -- perhaps this was only a weekday special, but we ordered from prix fixe menus at $30 for three courses, which is about as good as you can get for fine dining.

Fantastic

Marisol's is the best restaurant in the Triad. The menu options were unique and exciting. The service was excellent, the Chefs are fantastic, the food is absolutely awesome. The ambience is fabulous especially for Anniversaries. The restaurant provided a red rose to celebrate our anniversary, the staff catered to our every need. Highly recommended for a ""special"" evening. Note: If you advise the staff of your after dinner plans , they will monitor the time for you and make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy your meal.

WOW!!!!

This is by far the best and most romantic restaurant in the area. While the prices are not cheap; the food, wine, service, and experience are worth every penny. If you are ever in doubt where to take a date....take her here!
