I have a family member who went to Sam McKenzie,Steve Shefchik, Nicole Huss, Roshi John Nemick, and Vanessa Blanchette in a severe time of need and her trust was allegedly violated and confidentiality was allegedly broken in favor of my family members alleged abuser. Because of that and the lack of professionalism our family has received from Sam McKenzie,Steve Shefchik, Nicole Huss, Roshi John Nemick, and Vanessa Blanchette would urge caution when consulting this organization, using its professional services, or receiving family care. Be sure to check the qualifications of everyone you receive services from because being appropriately licensed impacts the quality of service a client receives and be sure to check for correct notations in your documents and insurance information.

Absolutely do NOT recommend. Horrible, abusive organization. Power for Change was retained to assist an 8 year old child with 'intensive in-home therapy.' Power for Change used unlicensed therapists (ie, Sam McKenzie), who work with 'Lead" therapists - its director Steve Shefchik claimed that the Lead therapist (Nichole Huss) who has only been licensed a few years, is its most experienced counselor. Its agents failed to provide the hours of individual therapy to the child that were promised, failed to provide sessions that were scheduled, cancelled and refused to reschedule sessions, and lied about the reasons services were not provided. The parent has documentation of the false statements Power for Changes agents have made regarding events that occurred at sessions, and other false and/or deceptive statements the agents have made. Its agents then without any discussion with the mother or child, inserted themselves into a custody dispute and rendered professional opinions, despite admitting much later that even then (let alone when they rendered those opinions) they did not know the child or her family. The mother has been threatened by the director of Power for Change to stop expressing her grievances to Power for Changes agents, the child's records have been withheld from the mother, and these agents make parental decisions without consultation with the mother (who has and has always had legal and physical placement of the child with no allegation ever of abuse or neglect). The Power for Change director and the 2 therapists assigned to the child's case caused immense damage to the child, lied with apparent impunity, and overstepped their role in ways that are devastating.
