This place is where it's at for actual quality furniture and not cheaply made knockoffs. The staff has decades of experience and can provide guidance, design assistance, all the personal touches that chain stores wouldn't know the first thing about. My entire house has been put together with pieces from this store as well as Amy's expertise. I send everyone here; I honestly can't speak more highly of them.

My husband and I were drawn to Northwestern as we try to shop local whenever possible, but we were thoroughly disappointed with our experience. We ordered a couch and chairs that were suggested to us from their catalog as they were not in the store. The driver delivered it and once we saw the couch in person, we realized it as was both extremely uncomfortable and doesn't fit in our home the way they laid it out for us. We immediately called and were told to put it in the room and try it. We called them back and spoke to our saleswoman whom was extremely rude and condescending. Not only are we stuck with a $1350 piece of furniture we are not satisfied with, we were not made aware of there not being a return policy AT ALL, as it's is stated on the receipt that there is a 35% restocking fee on special order cancellations. I asked if there was a manager that I could discuss this situation with, and the saleswoman smirked "my husband owns the store and you can talk to him and he'll tell you the same thing I did". We never would've made this purchase if we knew this, as it was stated nowhere on the paperwork we signed.

I cannot believe this company has been in business this long if this is how customers are treated. We were also going to purchase furniture for other rooms (we had a wishlist on file), including, rugs, tables, and eventually bedroom sets. I'm thankful we didn't spend more here than what we did, and Talsma will be getting the remaining business. Even Art Van has better customer service than Northwestern.
