General Info

Kindred Hearts Birthing Services offers doula services that cater to exactly what you need. The company was opened this year in 2016 and is owned and operated by Amanda Hurst. Amanda Hurst is a loving mother of two, who is certified in both birth and postpartum doula care through Doula Trainings International (DTI). Amanda is also a certified nursing assistant and a student. She is in school and working towards her Bachelors in Nursing. Eventually, Amanda would like to become a certified midwife. She will not disappoint you with the level of her care and commitment. She will be with you every step of the way throughout your pregnancy, labor, birth, and through the first few weeks of your postpartum period. During your prenatal care, I will offer to attend your prenatal appointments with you. Or you can choose to meet with me to have an ear to listen to you, decide what to bring to the hospital, practice some prenatal yoga, work on chores, or whatever else you may need. During your labor and delivery care, I will either meet you at your house when you feel that contractions are starting or I will meet you at the hospital when you are ready to go. I will support any type of birth and any type of facility. This includes home births. I will be there to set up your birthing room or pool for a water birth. I can start music, bring candles, aromatherapy oils, etc. I want you to be relaxed and to feel safe and well supported emotionally and physically. I will be there to refill your water, give ice chips, bring snacks, etc. After you deliver your baby, I will help store your placenta if you would like to encapsulate it or use it for other things. Then, I will provide lactation support, teach you how to properly latch your baby on, and teach you a few different holds. I will help you settle in to your room and I will stay for one to two hourse after delivery, or until you and your partner are comfortable and ready for me to leave. During your postpartum care, I will come to your home and work on chores that you are unable to attend to. This may include folding laundry, doing dishes, etc. I will provide extra lactation support, offer to hang out with the baby so you can take a nap in the other room, or entertain older children while you take a break. My goals are for you to feel that you recieved the best possible care and support, that your birth plan was ultimately followed unless 100% medically necessary, and that you felt safe and comfortable.
