This place is very poorly run. We just moved to the area and wanted to put our daughter in another gymnastics gym, after being in a wonderful one in California. For the first class, it was great. She worked on different skills and had a lot of fun. The next class, it wasn't so well. The "coach" was a kid about 15/16 years old. But we were told they were just short handed and there would be an adult coach. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and enrolled her in their 8 week special.

It was a mistake. My daughter learned nothing from the so-called coaches. She was in a tumbling class and they had 2 student coaches, who'd rather bounce on the trampoline than teach. When the adult coach would show up, they'd only be with the class for a short time then leave to another class. I watched my daughter bounce at the end of a tumble track for over 5 minutes waiting for the student coach to stop talking and give her instruction. Another time, the student coach was trying to teach 3 different classes with almost 2 dozen kids total. It was so unsafe!

I only let her finish the last class because I had already paid, but we will not be returning and I would never recommend this place for learning any sort of gymnastics.

Don't ever go or work here

This is the worst place you could possibly send someone to do gymnastics. The instructors have no clue what they're doing most of the time. There is a new manager who claims he is the next profit and he is the most unreasonable and unprofessional person you could ever meet. He may have once been a great gymnast, but now he can even touch his toes. not only is he impossible to understand, but he will try and teach you things that are not true or don't make any sense. The lady at the front desk is good at what she does and most of the instructors know what they're doing, but the thing is that Marco, the foreign man who is in charge does not ensure that instructors truly know what they are signing up for when they are hired. Also, he tries to teach ballet, but he teaches the positions incorrectly. The little kids don't understand what he's saying or doing (he goes too fast) so there is no point in them even teaching the class. There are absolutely no classes for anyone over 7 years old, but if you are older and intend to attend classes, there is no one big enough to spot other than Marco who I would never ever trust or want to come anywhere near my child. all in all, estrella gymnastics is a terrible facility and shouldn't even be open for buisness.

Of course the ability to compete depends on many factors that differ with individual kids, but Estrella is committed to helping all children fulfill their goals in Gymnastics. We have two classes called Teen Blast that are specifically designed for kids ages 12-17. Students can work on all the skills needed to progress to our competitive teams in a fun, safe environment tailored to older students. We also have competitive teams for USAG Level 3 through 9 and hold preteam tryouts periodically throughout the year. Contact the gym for more information.

My daughters have been going to Estrella for years and absolutely love it. They have progressed through the junior program and are currently in Level 2 and 3. Although there has been some coach turnover, my daughters have always had great instruction and have aspirations of being on team soon.

I called Estrella Gymnastics to make sure that there was room in their advanced tumbling class because I was going to take my daughter that evening to class. I was informed that the class schedules on their website were not the same as in the gym. We did not have time to make it to the gym that night due to the class starting shortly after I received the phone call. I decided to take my daughter the next evening to the advanced class. As I was watching I was in amazement that this is what they considered to be advanced. There were only three of the eight girls (which my daughter is one of the three) able to do a back handspring without a spot. The girls were doing their tumbling passes on three air mattresses that were made into a tumble track. Due to my daughters power in gymnastics I didn't think that it was wise for her to tumble on anything but the floor. The coach had her tumble on it anyways and when she rebounded she flew so high up and fell. The coach then had her add her back tuck into the tumbling sequence and my daughter flew up and off again. That is when I went and told the coach that my daughter has way to much power to be on something with extra spring. She then had my daughter tumble on the ground and she was doing her passes perfectly. Another instructor came in and told my daughter she was doing everything wrong and needed to go back to basics. Even if this was the case, although it is not, why would an instructor tell their student who has obviously worked very hard to achieve great tumbling skills that they are not good enough for the advanced class. We will NEVER be going to this facility again.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. At the time of your class we were still restructing our advanced classes due to the fact that a coach no longer with us advanced students well before they were ready. Because your daughter was a drop-in, our coaching staff had no point of reference for your daughter's tumbling experience and capabilities. Our advanced tumbling coaches have 35 plus years of combined experience, even working with elite and national level gymnasts and in the interest of your child's safety they wanted to make sure she was tumbling within her capabilities. Again, I do apologize and hope you'll join us during Open Gym time where she can practice her skills without having to worry about corrections.

My daughter received a Goodyear scholarship through the city. So we signed her up for the scheduled class. I was concerned with Estrella Gymnastics organization due to the poor business presentation provided by the front desk help. I phoned four hours prior to the class start time and left a message to please return my call and confirm the class was on for that evening. I never received a call back. We showed up 20 mins prior to the scheduled start time. The girl at the front desk said the class was changed to a different day and time. I asked why was I not informed. She said she had not had time to listen to the messages she was real busy. I knew what I was in for then. I made the decision to stay with them due to the discounted fee for class. The next few weeks they had my 10 year old in class with 4 and 5 yr olds. The teacher was rude and yelled at the younger girls who would cause her to repeat her self. She would get irritated if they would not preform the step sequence properly. My daughter was bored with the class it was a waste a time. They assured me that they would separate the young ones from the older by the next class well it didn't happen and I asked why. I heard the class teacher say well to bad if she doesn't like it. then she stopped and looked up at me as I walked up to the desk and said they will be in a separate class next time. I said that they said that last wk. So I signed her up for a different class since. Just last wk my husband paid and enrolled my daughter at the city office again and that night I took my daughter to class. She was in the class and they took roll and they asked her to step out of the class and find her parent because she was not on the list. She was really embarrassed. She was crying. I went to the front desk employee and she could not log on to verify that my daughter had been enrolled. Just another reason to find a better place for your children to receive instruction. I don't believe it's worth the reduced rate. Take Five Dance is where we will return to.

I'm really sorry you had a bad experience. On several days our office hours often start right before the start of the class making it extremely difficult for same day callbacks. Our City Dance and Tumble has a very wide age range and often not enough children enroll to split the class into two groups. I think your child might really like our gymnastics or tumbling classes. Please contact the gym for a free trial in one of our other classes - we'd love to see you come back!

Our 3 yr old loves this gym!

I was shocked also, to see a bad review. Anyone who has worked with young children know that it is a job for "certain" people, patient, kind and understanding. People that work here filter out the negative because its not a place for it. No one but yourself is a perfect teacher for your kids. But these teachers are sure close to the next best thing. I wish I had the patience that they do!

I was shocked to see a such a negative review on here. I have been completely happy with my experience. My daughter attended Gym N Learn for a year and continued with gymnastics classes for another year. We love the staff and coaches. Conveniently located, very clean and safe. One of the only gyms we have seen that has a completely separate gymnastics area for kids under 6. Highly recommended!

Don't waste your money here. ...

Don't waste your money here. We enrolled our kids in the 3-4 year old classes and wish we hadn't. The coaches are horrible. You can tell they don't want to be there. The kids were trying to talk to the coaches and the coaches would literally ignore them. They show long sequences of movements only 1 time and then expect your child to remember them. I have taught young kids for many years and know you can't show them more than one move at a time if you expect them to remember it. The staff is not very friendly. Out of 5 coaches I've said hello to in the gym only two acknowledged me back. There are a lot of other gymnastics gyms in the area. I personally would suggest checking some of them out and skipping this place.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Our preschool curriculum is set up so that children do not have to spend long periods sitting or standing in line waiting for one-on-one time with a coach. Instead the coach spots at one station while students rotate through other stations performing foundation or already mastered skills; essentially giving our clients the most for their money. Current research shows that most 3-4 year olds can easily remember 3-4 separate skills especially when given appropriate verbal clues. It seems this class was not the best fit for your children. You could try a Parent & Tot class where you can participate with your child giving them the extra guidance they need.
