      The Riverview Mansion Hotel of Golconda is a full service boutique hotel. WE ARE NOT YOUR TYPICAL B&B - We are more eclectic, organic and much cooler and funky than the others. With an in bar hotel and a wine shop that will blow your mind. In addition to the finest Victorian style accommodations available in Southern Illinois, there is also a lounge serving the best selection of local wines and beers, as well as a restaurant. The hotel is open year round with advance reservations encouraged. All major credit cards accepted. The best Victorian suites available in the Shawnee! A funky boutique style mansion (don't worry, there's no plastic flowers or fragile antiques), but plenty of private nooks and crannys to read a book and share a bottle of wine. The Riverview Mansion Hotel in Golconda has been the center of hospitality for a century. Also find the largest wine shop in Southern Illinois featuring the best of regional wines and beyond. The hotel bar, the Levee Lounge is a lively venue on weekends and during festivals. Bistro style sustenance available, i.E. Pizzas and artisan tapas, cheese and meat plates. History: Established in 1926 Built in 1894 as the private mansion for riverboat captain, John Gilbert, today's "Mansion" remains the jewel of Golconda's historic "silk-stocking row." In the mid-1920's, the Mansion was converted to the local hotel it is today. Boasting some of the finest craftsmanship available a century ago, the Mansion's millwork still awes visitors today. The six fabulous fireplace mantels are centerpieces of an architectural excellence seen only in the palaces of Europe. An exotic gingerbread arch hangs overhead at the entrance which lore says was removed from Gilbert's riverboat.
