Have been seen on multiple occasions at this facility. My doctor shows a complete lack of interest regarding my health. Refused to believe I had pain and even left me in tears accusing me of trying to get narcotics without ordering tests. I had to see another doctor at a different facility for a diagnosis. Part of my vertebra is broken and I have no disc in my low back. They found arthritis, fibromyalgia among other things. All it took was interest and proper testing. Bonnie Harrington elongated my misery.

Word of concern: When I visited Galax Family Care to get antibiotics for a sore throat, I was offered the choice of paying at the time $135 or the cost would be $227. I knew my BCBS insurance would pay the bill upon receiving the claim (which they said would send in) but they still wanted my upfront pay, saying they would reimburse me upon payment by BCBS. In order to lessen the cost for my insurance, I agreed and paid the $135. They then proceeded to place a claim for $447! to BCBS. They were promptly paid this by BCBS, yet I never received my $135 back until months later, after I went through hoops to get it! Just be careful.

One Bad Apple

As an overall rating excluding the one specific Doctor This office deserves a 5 star rating. Making appointments is easy and fast, the office staff are very helpful and friendly, the office itself is very clean and for the most part aside from the one doctor , all the doctors are friendly, experienced and caring. Linda Lastinger is the doctor I have an issue with. The impression I get from her is it is just a job, she has or at least shows no compassion, is not very friendly and comes off as not caring past the initial reason you visited in the first place. I was having severe, wide spread , unexplained body pain. I saw her and after running a few tests that came back negative she failed to investigate further and just left me in severe pain with no further investigation as to what was causing it. Made me feel like it was all in my head. Even after I asked her what her next step was going to be. I had to , on my own, after the pain continued for several more months and I could not take it any more , and from the advice from family sought a rheumatologist who then diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia and prescribed Neurontin and I have been pain free since ! Another example of her poor bedside manner and unfriendly behavior is that I had to take my daughter there after the school had called and said she had burned her fingers on the gravy at breakfast, though there were no visual signs of any burn, the school wanted her checked. My daughter said it still hurt and this same doctor repeatedly rubbed her fingers across my daughter's burnt fingers with my daughter hollering each time. Dr. Lastinger didn't apologize for it hurting or didn't even try to explain to my daughter that she had to do this or nothing. Her bedside manner isn't only bad with adults, but she is not kid friendly either. If I wasn't already a patient for over a year before I was exposed to this cold, uncaring doctor I would not have returned. Now I just try to get one of her associates unless it's urgent and I have to get her!
