General Info
Infant massage is an ancient practice that has been performed by mothers as a way to promote their baby's health and well-being. Research shows that early loving touch is essential for the development of infants, and massage is one way to feed this need. Babies who receive a lot of nurturing touch sleep better, have better immune system function, gain weight more quickly, and are relaxed so they sleep better. The parent-infant relationship is enhanced through bonding and attachment. Massage also provides relief from medical procedures and helps reduce colic and constipation. I am a registered Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI®) through the International Loving Touch Foundation. I will come to your home and teach you a systematic approach to massaging your baby using a variety of techniques, over a series of sessions. All of the techniques can be modified to meet the needs of children with special medical or physical conditions. Expectant parents can practice on a doll so they will be ready to begin massage as soon as their baby arrives. Group classes will be available.
