Didn't live up to promises

I am now spending over $400 to have a local landscaper complete the job that Western Landscaping said they would do, BUT DIDN'T! When we signed the contact with Western Landscape, one of the stipulations was that they would provide "soil amendments," which are invariably necessary in Fresno because of the hardpan that is so widespread. (Ever try planting a flower in concrete? You need a jackhammer to dig the hole!) Instead of providing the soil amendment, Western Landscaping put down a quarter inch of dyed WOOD CHIPS that turned white almost immediately, because, guess what, wood chips are naturally white. I am now having three inches of humus brought in to go over the area that Western Landscape was supposed to "amend" or improve, WHICH THEY DID NOT DO! The local landscaper I hired is now digging up the soil, after raking up the Western Landscape WOOD CHIPS, which are garbage. After digging up the soil, the local landscaper is putting gypsum into the soil. This is what we thought we paid Western Landscape to do. We paid Western Landscape well over the other bidders because the young Mormon fellow who came out to give us an estimate seemed to be someone you could trust. NOT! Some of the miniature bottle brush (aka Little Boys) that Western Landscape planted have died. Finally, the cypress tree they planted had to be dug up and replanted because it was leaning over at a 75 degree angle. Maybe the Western Landcape people that they'd make it look like it was windblown by the ocean breezes. Naw! They were not that creative.

NOT a bargain at all - VERY disappointed!!

I went with this company because the prices seemed reasonable, but I ended up paying almost $20K for poor workmanship and an extremely frustrating experience. The owner is nice at first and a great salesman, but watch out - it all changes once the project gets started. We had major communication problems! He didn't keep me informed of what was going on and did not listen to or respect what I wanted. Even with multiple reminders and when I put requests in writing, things didn't get done or were done wrong! If you want to be involved in the process or are a detailed-oriented person, BE WARNED - client input, questions, and suggestions are not welcomed and will bring out his temper and lack of professionalism (I was shocked when he raised his voice to me and even more when he hung up on me)! Workers do not speak or understand English. They used and lost some of my personal property... and damaged my brand new spa. Concrete had to be torn out and repoured up to 4x in some areas and still looks terrible (uneven, chips, and noticeable stains)!! Final touches were never finished and, of course, he won't even respond to me now since he already got my final check. No wonder there's already 4 BBB complaints filed and the company hasn't even been in business 3 years!

Did what they said they would do!

Were always on time, always polite, and did everything they said they would do. In a few areas they went above and beyond, providing additional material to better the project. They left our yard in the best shape we could have imagined. Providing our dream yard!
