Kerry’s Papery is an invitation broker. If you want to order stock invitations out of a catalog with minor tweaks, Kerry’s Papery may not be a bad option. However, if like us, you want a completely unique & custom design created by an experienced wedding invitation designer, this isn’t the right vendor for you.

I came to Kerry’s Papery after spending hours looking at invites online & not finding any options that suited the style my fiancé & I wanted. I could have gone to a designer friend (I have worked with designers & print work for over 14 years), but I wanted to work with someone that knew wedding invitations & could make recommendations based on experience. So my wedding planner recommended Kerry’s Papery as an invitation source.

During our first appointment my fiancé, my wedding planner & I discussed the struggle we had finding an invitation design that we liked & we really needed help with taking an idea we had & making it look like a wedding invitation. I had done a very rough mock up just to illustrate our idea, & let Kerry know that I didn’t want this look, didn’t want to limit the designers to the mockup layout & that we were open to feedback about making it look like a wedding invite. We left a 50% deposit for the design help & wedding invite we discussed. We left feeling very excited about the creative design we would see from Kerry’s team.

When the first proof arrived we were shocked to see that is was exactly the rough mock up that I had put together. We had made it very clear in the appointment that we did not want the same look as my mock up. 4 proofs & one month later the invite still looked just like my mockup. The only changes made were tweaks that I recommended despite the fact that I was repeatedly clear that we wanted a designer to help recreate the layout from the start.

A month into the project Kerry let me know that the number of photos provided was restrictive. This would have been information that should have been communicated at the beginning of the project. I asked her what she would have done had I not walked in with a mockup & she let me know that we would have looked through books with samples & we would have picked out a layout I liked. She “could not make a design out of nothing”. In fact, that is exactly what a graphic designer does. The designers that are used on these projects are not on Kerry’s team – they are with the invitation printers. So you are working through another party to have your project designed & they are used to working with template work like what I had seen online & didn’t like from the start.

A graphic designer friend ended up completing the layout the invite in 2 days. Kerry wasn’t able to provide the proper print specs, so we had to go through rounds of revisions on the artwork so that we could get the job printed. I then had to hound Kerry to find out when the invites would be delivered so that I could work on my now VERY late coordination of mailing them out.

In my experience, Kerry’s communication on our project was not consistent & in many instances inaccurate. The services that were presented to us at our initial consultation were not provided. I was treated like I was a liar & a difficult bride when I communicated that what I asked for didn’t match what I was given. This was a very bad experience & if I had to do it over I would never have selected to work with Kerry's Papery. If we hadn’t put a deposit down we would have used another vendor
