General Info
Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory works throughout the western United States and Mexico to conserve birds and their habitats. It offers a range of educational and research programs and maintains one of its offices in Fort Collins, Colo. Founded in 1988, the observatory partners with state and federal natural resource agencies, private landowners, schools and other nonprofit corporations for conservation. It studies birds responses to habitat conditions and ecological processes to provide scientific information that guides bird conservation efforts. Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory provides experiential, educational programs that create an awareness and appreciation for birds. Headquartered in Brighton, Colo., the observatory conducts on-the-ground conservation and research activities. Its international exchange program links classrooms in the United States with classrooms in Mexico through a shared resource of migratory birds and provides bilingual educational materials that correlate to state content standards in science, reading and writing, geography and math.
