- Engine RepairWe have ASE certified Technicians that are trained in engine repair and replacement, electrical, brakes, cooling systems, air conditioning, suspension, transmission, diagnostics, tune up, exhaust and more.
- Oil ChangeIt might sound like a normal service for you, but you wouldn't believe how many people don't change their engine oil often enough. We see sludged up gummed up and seized up engines come into this shop all the time. Number one "have to" service for your vehicles is the oil change service every 3000 miles or about every 3 months.
- Engine Tune-UpThe term "Tune Up" is a term that's been used for everything from installing spark plugs to changing a filter. Back in the old days cars had more consumable parts in the ignition systems and needed a little more tweaking and adjusting than the modern day cars and light trucks.
- Exhaust System Repair
- Engine ReplacementLet's assume that the cost of repairing your engine is way to high due to the worn parts or damaged block. Now you will need a replacement engine. It may be tempting to purchase a used assembly to save some costs. If this is the way you want to repair your vehicle, make sure it has low miles, and comes with a warranty that also covers labor if something is wrong with it. When it's fired up in your car and they discover a rod knock, low oil pressure or a host of other possible problems, the engine is going to have to come back out. If the company you purchased the used engine from doesn't pay labor, and just replaces the bad used engine, you will have to foot the bill for doing the engine replacement twice. OUCH! Good quality used engine assemblies are available for reputable salvage yards and come with a warranty. Remember, you still want to freshen the unit up with a new timing belt (if needed), water pump, oil pump, belts, hoses, gaskets, seals, tune up parts, filters, etc. Don't forget these costs when calculating your total expenses.
- Timing Belt/Chain ReplacementDon't be cheap when it comes to a timing belt service. If somebody is offering to perform this service for a couple hundred dollars, beware. Most timing belt engines have a number of components that need to be replaced when the service is performed. These parts range from idler pulleys, tensioners and tensioner pulleys, seals and water pumps. Yes, water pumps. Many engines have water pumps that are driven by the timing belt. Remember, if you just replace the belt and not the other parts that tension, guide, or drive off of that belt, you run a very high risk of breaking your new timing belt when one of these items fails. If an idler pulley or water pump lock up, the belt will break. If the tensioner fails the belt will break. Don't take the chance, replace all the part associated with the timing belt when you do the service. Always replace the thermostat and gasket when you replace the water pump too.
- Transmission ServiceThere are many kinds of transmissions in cars and trucks these days. What is a transmission and what does it do? Transmissions basically come in two designs, manual (shift it yourself) and automatic. Transmissions are the component that takes power from the engine and transfers it to the wheels. It's what makes your car or truck move. Without a transmission, your Sunday drive would be pretty boring. Transmission problems will leave you stranded on the side of the road too. Don't forget regular transmission maintenance.
- Transmission Fluid Service
- Transmission ReplacementAutomatic transmissions require regular transmission services that include fresh fluid, a new transmission fluid filter and generally a new gasket on the transmission pan. See your vehicle's owner's manual for service intervals. Not servicing your transmissions on a regular basis will greatly shorten it's life span, and will probably cost you a large amount of money for a transmission replacement. Call us now to make a transmission service appointment for your vehicle.
- Clutch Service/RepairManual transmissions use a clutch disc, pressure plate and release bearing to transfer the power from the engine to the transmission and on to the wheels. Releasing the clutch pedal allows the clutch disk to sandwiched between the pressure plate and the flywheel, allowing the engine's crankshaft to start spinning the transmission input shaft. Clutches in these vehicles are operated with metal linkage, cables or hydraulically. Any failure in these systems will not allow the clutch to function with the clutch pedal. The only maintenance a manual transmission needs is an occasional gear oil change and a clutch replacement when it wears out.
- Suspension Service/Repair
- Air Conditioning Service/Repair
- Brake ServiceIf brakes are not serviced when the indicators or sensors tell you that it's time, damage to the brake rotors and drums will occur costing you a lot more for repairs. Generally brake drums and rotors can be machined smooth and straight when the brake service is performed. We like to replace brake rotors with new pads during a brake service to avoid future pulsation problems and vibration. Some rotors on certain cars can only be replaced and not resurfaced.
- Brake Fluid ServiceBrake fluid should be changed every 2 years per most manufacturer maintenance recommendations. Brake fluid captures moisture. Moisture in brake system boils when under pressure, which a brake system is. The combination of the pressure, boiling and corrosion from the moisture damages the brake system and can make your brakes unsafe if the fluid is not changed every 2 years. Schedule your brake fluid flush now and keep your car safe.
- Brake Replacement
- Lighting Services
- Battery ServiceAnother common condition with vehicles that have a few miles on them is lighting problems. The most common cause of brake lights, turn signals, marker lamps, and tail lights not working properly is installing the wrong bulbs. Most of these type of light bulbs come in different watt and voltage ratings. Make sure you replace your bulbs with the correct bulb part number specified in your owners manual and on the bulb itself. Installing the incorrect bulbs can lead to such problems as turn signal blinking fast, slow or not at all. Brake lights not working on one side of the car, or dim. Fuses can blow if the bulbs are wrong for the vehicle too. This can create a very time consuming and costly diagnosis if a technician has to track down this condition. Also, when replacing bulbs, use a good dielectric grease on the contacts to keep them from corroding, help repel moisture, and help create a good electrical connection. Set up an appointment for a battery service and we'll check you lights and replace any burned out light bulbs free.
- Electrical Service/RepairAll of our newer vehicles have complex electrical systems and wiring harnesses that are completely foreign to most people, and some mechanics as well. Electrical problems can be a complete nightmare to diagnose and repair.
- General RepairsYou should always have your vehicles suspension inspected at every service to keep your vehicles safe. Don't put off replacing suspension parts when they are showing signs of wear or failure, especially your shocks and struts. Shocks and struts can be replaced by the home mechanic with a few specialty tools. If you are only replacing the shock portion of your strut assembly, you will need a more expensive spring compressor to disassemble the unit. My advice is let a certified auto repair shop and mechanic take care of that for you. Simple shock absorbers can be replaced by almost anyone with some automotive skills as they are usually held in with only 3 small bolts.
- Towing Service
- Auto MaintenanceOne thing you should do every year during your vehicle's scheduled maintenance, is have the battery terminals cleaned or replaced, depending on their condition. Bad battery connections can cause hundreds of problems and strange conditions to occur in your car's computer systems. Just like anything electrical, these computers need a good clean electrical connection to work properly.
