The first night I attended this school I had a substitute teacher who was knowledgeable and overall a good teacher. However, we heard a lot of negative things about our regular teacher teaching things incorrectly, with only a lamp on for lighting and not supervising or teaching students how to pour drinks, but rather telling them they could stay after to practice. The second time we were supposed to have class, no one showed up and we had no way of contacting the teacher to see what was going on. The third class, the regular teacher talked WAY too fast, gave information that was incorrect according to our book and what we learned from the previous teacher, and mostly taught random facts and not from the book. she skipped around the information in a way that was very hard to follow. She told us we would not be able to practice pouring drinks before our test and that we would test on our third class instead of our fourth like it should be. And I just felt like if I paid for three classes and a test day and I only got two then its kinda messed up. I think the book we got was a little out dated, but for the most part easy to self teach from and if all you want from this experience is a license, then go for it, but the job placement so far for my friend just said what positions in the area are open which I could have done myself -also you never pour actual drinks (the bottles have water in them for you to practice, which I believe is standard), but we didn't even hardly get to practice with the water. I felt like it just wasn't worth my money, the teacher was not professional, one girl was allowed to bring her test home and fill it out open book while the rest of us weren't. it was a disaster. The good news is I believe the company overall is looking into this so it might get better soon. I don't think it was the company who is the bad apple here at all.

Good Class

ABC Bartending School was a great experience for me. I enjoyed the whole bar set up for a classroom, and the instructors were amazing. The text book was very helpful as well. I was able to make as many notes as I needed to help me remember certain things and certain drinks. The hands on training really helped me improve and understand everything even more, as well. I loved the class, and every time I needed help I was assisted. I highly recommend this program. The class is also affordable. After I was finished with the class, the job placement program was very helpful. They helped me search through a variety of places and I found a job in less than a week!

Honesty Please...

Short Explanation: There are fraudulent 5-star reviews for this company... so buyer beware. I don't know about you guys, but if a company has the indecency to regular post counterfeit reviews and slander their competition (see below for the evidence I uncovered), then how can I trust them to treat me as a customer? I was seriously going to purchase a course from them, but have decided against it based on what I found. I'm truly appalled and disappointed. :(

Long Explanation (what I emailed directly to CitySearch for investigation):
After careful investigation, I have come to the conclusion that someone at this business has been regularly posting fraudulent reviews. As I was thinking of purchasing a course from this business, I looked through all the ratings and found the ratings rather suspicious-looking. The reviewers either gave it a 5-star rating with a STELLAR review (not even saying a mediocre thing about the place) or the reviews were REALLY bad (things like the company scammed them out of money). After looking into the 5-star ratings further, I realized that nearly all of them reviewed ONLY this business (at all 3 locations) and there will be 2 reviews from the same day, a few month gap, and then 2 reviews on the same day again. Most of them also have IDs with the word ""bartender"" in it.
But the REAL sign that they are fraudulent is that some of the reviews are the EXACT SAME over 2 IDs. For example, girlybartender's review for the Fayetteville location (4/2/2010) is exactly the same as mixemup's review for the Charlotte location (3/31/2010). Jenbartender's review for the Greenville location (11/24/2008) is exactly the same as the Mandasaywhat's review for the Charlotte location (11/25/2008). And Scorpio4Lyfe's review for the Charlotte location (3/1/2010) is the same as carolinabartender's review for the Greenville location (4/7/2010). To make matters worse, it seems they are slandering their competition, since Mandasaywhat's profile gave the exact same terrible review for two competing bartending schools (Charlotte's Bartending School and Absolute Bartending College), only switching out a name. The review even has a ""plug"" for ABC Bartending School.
As a regular CitySearch user, I believe that accurate and honest reviews are of the upmost importance. I hope that someone looks into this matter so that people aren't mislead to patron a dishonest company that does something as deceitful as regularly posting false 5-star reviews for their company.

Avoid like the plague

Please see reviews for other metro areas ABC Bartending School operates and the Better Business Bureau (they got an F). This school is a scam. The teacher is unprofessional and provides inaccurate information. All they care about is getting your $300. Do not give them your credit card number, do not take this class (just volunteer somewhere instead) and please, please, please get the word out to folks telling them to stay away. There are much better and more enjoyable ways to waste your time and money.

Can't get our certificate form Morganton Rd. school!

My wife has gone threw all of her classes and passed the final test. The teachers were great and very helpful, however we have still not recived her certification from them. We live about an hour away and was told to come pick up her certificate 3 days in a row now and still haven't recived it. The reason for that is that The owner didn't have the key to get in the classroom on Morganton Rd. office!! Gas is not cheap these days as we all know, so we don't apperciate getting the run around on getting her paper work. It's holding up the hiring process! Now we must wait another day for them to get the key to the building! What kind of school has one key? If you do inrole with ABC bartending on Morganton Rd. make sure you stay on there behind to get your paper work so you don't have to go threw what we are!!!!

I recently lost my job of 5 years. I decided to attend ABC Bartending School. This was a very informative class. Very good instructors. The training was hands on, we made drinks every night. Mike answered all my questions and was very helpful. Looking forward to a new career in bartending. Ive been working as a banquet bartender at the Hyatt, love my new job.

Great Experience!

ABC Bartending School was a great experience for me. It's great for looking for a ful-time job, and it's also great for others like me, that are just looking for another part time job and to have fun. The instructors really helped a lot, too. Not only did they explain drinks but they also taught me tricks to remember the drinks. They taught me not only about how to mix drinks but all about the alcohol laws and how to flip bottles while mixing drinks. They also helped me find a great part time job and every now and then I get calls to do private parties. They offered me other ful-time jobs at a few restaurants and hotels, but I was just looking for the fun part of it. That's where the cool private parties come in. I would Highly recommend this program, because they are very understanding about peoples income and they work around that and give you a certain payment plan.

Best Experience Ever!

Only thing that really is confuseing me, is that it say ABC Bartending. This is definitely not the correct name for this school. This one is called Absolut Bartending College. The one on Morganton is called ABC, this is definitely not that school!! That school is a HUGE RIP OFF!!!!!! I would definitely recommend no one going to the school over on Morganton Road!!!! They are NOT LICENSED!!! They DEFINITELY DO NOT HELP WITH ASSISTING WITH JOB PLACEMENT!!! Absolut Bartending College does do this, I know because I started working ASAP!!!!!! I ABSOLUTELY love bartending!! Meet new and interesting people EVERYDAY!! I know that this other school, ABC, is not Licensed and does not help with assistance because.......my bestest friend of 30 years went there, paid and was NEVER able to attend the class to even begin learning how to learn how to become a bartender!!!! I hated that for her! SO, anyways, the name on this website is definitely not what is there! The name is wrong but the address is now called Absolut Bartending College!! You gotta go, it's an experience you won't regret!!!!!!
