The Faribault Fire Department is a public safety agency comprised of more than 35 full- and part-time firefighters. It provides fire prevention and suppression, medical first response, and heavy and tactical rescue services for over 22,500 city residents. The department covers an area of nearly 125 square miles. The Faribault Fire Department also offers public education, fire inspection and preplan programs for its fire protection area. Its equipment includes a 75-foot aerial, heavy rescue truck, rural tanker, engines and pickup trucks. The department also administers various community awareness programs. The city government also operates administration, building and housing code, community development, engineering, finance, parks and recreation, public works, and planning and zoning departments.
