Bowerman's Beach Club is a PRIVATE facility. The Tennis court has been CLOSED for over 5 years. It WAS maintained for the use of a local tennis club, but they built new facilities in the village and no longer need use of the court...to discourage NON-MEMBERS from unauthorized use the fabric sides (to prevent sand incursion) have been removed to ALLOW sand to cover the court.

Bowerman's was NOT "Donated" in anyone's name! It is OWNED by 150 or so local members, Condominium-style. The members enjoy and protect their PRIVACY by having management enforce a strict policy on " VISITORS".. NOTE: I used the term visitors, not GUESTS! Guests are INVITED by members, who must be present to SIGN the Guest(s) in and INTRODUCE them as such to Staff. As owners, we are aware of this policy and are pleased with the way this works...it prevents VISITORS from walking up, dropping a name they have heard is a member and receiving GUEST privileges.

As far as being "run-down", the previous reviewer was obviously looking at the building from the outside, as all but OWNERS & their Guests are limited to that view. The building is weathered by Decades of Salt air and sand driven by the wind. It IS decidedly "weathered" and the interior is plain and utilitarian. The facilities are provided for the use of Owners and Guests, and as such VISITORS are turned away, much like someone would turn away an unknown visitor from their home if the unknown visitor just came up to the door and asked to tour your private home.

Membership is limited and as with most clubs there is a system in place to vet applicants.

The beach itself rubs shoulders with Chapoquoit Beach (Public Access but must have a RESIDENT Town of Falmouth sticker) to the North, and Black Beach (private with guarded access ) to the South.

Management and Staff are just doing their job...if their requests for a visitor to leave go unheeded they probably DO get nasty...as their jobs are to insure that members get to enjoy the privacy they pay for.

I hope this clears up some misleading info posted previously... and I am not an employee of the club, I am lucky to be one of the Owners.

This beach club is one of the ...

This beach club is one of the worst in town. The location is great but the staff is nasty and that is putting it nicely. The building looked like it was nice at one point but has suffered from years of neglect by management. The wind blows sand in your face over the dune while you are trying to play tennis which is hard to do with all the sand on the court. This club was donated in someones honor and I feel bad that the management is dragging her name through the mud with there management. If someone invites you to this club it would be best to decline and go some place else.
