- Root Canal TreatmentDuring an injury, a tooth may be pushed sideways, out of, or into its socket. Your oral surgeon will reposition and stabilize your tooth. Root canal treatment with an endodontist is usually necessary for permanent teeth that have been dislodged, and should be done a few days following the injury.
- DenturesPartial dentures, flippers, or full dentures may be used, immediately after surgery on a selected basis. This will be discussed with you on the pre-operative visit.
- Dental ImplantsPeople are living longer than ever, and while regular brushing, flossing, and checkups allow many of us to maintain our natural smiles for a lifetime, sometimes our teeth just can't keep up. If you've lost a tooth (or a few teeth) due to injury or disease, dental implants can rejuvenate both your smile and your oral health.
- Oral SurgeryWe’re proud to have created an oral surgery office where our patients feel at home. When you think of an oral surgery office, laughter may not be the first thing that comes to your mind. When you visit NVOS, that’s exactly what you’ll find. Dr. Purdy and our team are skilled, experienced professionals. We’re also warm, caring, and genuinely want to get to know you on a personal level.
- Jaw SurgeryCorrective jaw surgery moves your teeth and jaws into positions that are more balanced, functional, and healthy. Whether your needs include improving your bite and function, appearance, or speech, corrective jaw surgery can have a dramatic and positive effect on your outlook on life. Your oral surgeon will work with you to help you achieve a beautiful, functional, and pain-free smile that will last for the rest of your life.
- Maxillofacial SurgeryOral and maxillofacial surgery is used to correct a wide spectrum of diseases, injuries, and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws, and the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region. A recognized international surgical specialty, it is also one of the nine specialties of dentistry recognized by the American Dental Association.
- Tooth ExtractionsThe most common type of local anesthetic is lidocaine, which is administered by injection into the surgical area. The use of a local anesthetic alone is recommended only for simple surgical procedures, such as gum treatments and tooth extractions. Local anesthetic will always be used in conjunction with any other methods of sedation you require.
- Ridge AugmentationRidge augmentation uses bone and tissue-grafting procedures to fill in the indented area of the jaw and gums, which leaves you with a smooth gum line that coexists with your restoration or dental implant.
- Bone GraftingThe goal of bone grafting is to encourage the body to rebuild the bone and other structures that attach the tooth to the jaw. First, your oral surgeon will separate the gums from your teeth in order to gain access to the roots and bone. The roots will be thoroughly cleaned, and the holes in the bone will be filled with a graft material that usually consists of your own bone.
- OrthodonticsIn some cases, your upper and lower jaws may have grown at different rates. Injuries and birth defects may also affect jaw alignment. Though orthodontics can usually correct problems when only the teeth are misaligned, corrective jaw surgery with an oral surgeon may be necessary to correct misalignment of the jaws.
