What is an Eyebrow Lift?

Eyebrow lift surgery is a procedure that smooths the forehead, reduces frown lines, and raises the position of the eyebrow line. Recovery time from eyebrow lift surgery is relatively short, with little discomfort for the patient. The best candidates for an eyebrow lift are adults in good physical condition, with a generally healthy body image.

Costs for and financing of eyebrow lift surgery

The cost of eyebrow lift surgery depends primarily on the skill and experience of the surgeon and to some extent, the pressures of the local economy, but the average costs are about $2000. Because of the influence of the local economy, the costs for this procedure can be shopped, and it is possible for candidates to be able to negotiate and excellent package. Financing plans may be available, either through the surgeon, a financing company, or depending on the reason for the surgery, the patient’s insurance.

Eyebrow lift procedure

Typically, the doctor makes a full incision across the top of the forehead behind the hair line. Once completed, the muscles are tightened and any excess skin and other tissue are removed. In the final stage of the surgery, the forehead skin is raised in order to lift the position of the eyebrow line and to remove any horizontal wrinkles. The incision is then closed with sutures.

Eyebrow lift surgery can also be performed endoscopically, which is less invasive than the traditional brow lift surgery, resulting in less scarring, and reduced recovery time.

Endoscopic eyebrow lift

An endoscopic eyebrow lift procedure is also available, which is not as invasive as incision-based surgery. The scarring and recovery time is reduced, and many patients prefer this technique because of these two factors. The costs for an endoscopic brow lift are about the same as traditional procedures, and similar results are achieved. The typical candidate is younger than those who receive a traditional eyebrow lift as they need less extensive restructuring of the forehead and brow area.

Recovery

Recovery from eyebrow lift surgery varies from patient to patient, depends on the type of lift done, and whether or not other procedures were performed at the time.

Any pain and discomfort can be controlled with over-the-counter (OTC) medications, and most return to normal daily activities after a week. In comparison to the traditional brow lift, endoscopic brow lifts require smaller incisions, and do not require significant skin removal. While the forehead and eyebrow are raised only slightly, recovery time is greatly reduced. Both brow lift procedures produce excellent results.
