Exercise Workouts for Burning Fat

Exercise workouts are a great way to burn fat, but for it to be truly effective you must also adjust your diet so that you are not taking in more calories that you can burn off. The best way to do this is to eat small, healthy meals 4-5 times throughout the day, cut down on saturated fats and transfats, avoid junk food and cut down on caffeine and alcohol. Here’s a rundown on some of the exercise workouts for burning fat and muscle toning.

The best exercises for your upper abs are crunches. Lie flat on the floor with your knees bent. Cross your arms behind your head. Raise your upper body off the floor while tightening your stomach muscles. Repeat 20-30 times.

Leg Raises

A good exercise for lower abs is leg raises. Lie on the floor with your arms by your side and your legs stretched out straight. Keeping your legs straight, raise them about a foot off the floor, hold for a second then lower them. Repeat 20-30 times.

Thigh Exercises

To tighten up the inner thigh, lie on your back with your legs straight up in the air. Open your legs as wide as you can with a scissor motion and close them again. Repeat 20-30 times.

Walking and Jogging

Walking and/or jogging are great exercise workouts. Alternating between the two or a fast sprint and then a jog will help to burn off more calories. If you prefer to walk only, get yourself a pedometer and try to get up to 10,000 steps each time you go walking. That means you have walked for 5 miles. If you are just starting out and this seems a lot start with 500 steps and increase your total goal by 500 each day. Be creative about how to increase your steps by;

  • Walk to the store
  • Walk your dog
  • Pay outside with your children
  • Take the stairs at work instead of the elevator
  • Park further away form the supermarket
  • Go window shopping
  • Do some yard work
  • Go hiking
  • Walk over to a friend’s house

Remember, to get the most benefits from your exercise workouts, whichever you choose, you must be consistent. It doesn’t matter if you change your type of workout each day so long as you workout on a regular basis. That’s the only way you will see results.
