- Plantar Fasciitis“Weight loss surgery was hard for me. I had some complications early on and often questioned my decision the first few weeks. After that phase, things have gotten better and better every week. I’ve lost 100 pounds after sleeve surgery from October to July. I’m 20 pounds from my goal weight. I no longer suffer from plantar fasciitis. I don’t have back pain. I have energy for days. It’s so easy to exercise. I’m in clothing sizes I haven’t worn since high school or college. And as silly as it sounds, I love that I can cross my legs easily again!”

- Endoscopy“Dumping syndrome” can occur when a patient who has had the RnYGB eats too much sugar or simply too much food. While it is not a serious health risk in and of itself, the results are very unpleasant. Symptoms include vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, weakness, palpitations, sweating, and faintness. Some people are unable to eat sugary foods after the operation. The bypassed portions of the stomach and intestine cannot be easily seen using X-ray or endoscopy if there are problems, such as ulcers, bleeding, or malignancy.
- Lung CancerThe improved survival after bariatric surgery is primarily due to the improvements in two disease areas: cardiovascular (heart attacks, strokes, etc.) and cancer (decrease in breast, uterine, prostate, colon, stomach, esophagus, kidney and some types of lung cancer)

- Diabetes Care
- X-Rays
- General SurgeryAfter graduation he began his career with a general surgery residency at the Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. The residency chairman was a prominent bariatric surgeon. This exposure continued to interest Dr. Walton even after completing his general surgery residency. As the laparoscopic approach to bariatric surgery evolved, Dr. Walton decided to begin a bariatric program – this in the face of a very busy, well rounded general surgery practice in Enid, Oklahoma. He performed several hundred bariatric operations over the next three years.
- LiposuctionOver the past 30 or 40 years, however, obesity has become a major health concern in the U.S. and elsewhere. Different procedures have been employed with varying success. Liposuction – literally sucking the fat out of a body – was a fast, short-term solution.
- Laparoscopic SurgeryWith laparoscopic surgery, many patients can return to normal day to day activities in a few days. The difference is instead of one large incision, several tiny incisions are made in the abdomen. With less healing time, less rehab time, and less downtime, this type of surgery is performed in 99 percent of WeightWise surgeries.
- Bariatric SurgeryWeightWise is committed to long-term patient health and advocates for each person to thrive in life. Our patient testimonials speak for themselves and our experienced team of medical professionals is simply unmatched. Dr. Toby Broussard and Dr. Greg Walton bring years of hands-on expertise in the bariatric surgery field to each operation.
- UlcerThe name was first used by Cesar Roux (1857-1943) to describe an operation to bypass a blocked stomach caused from scar tissue after severe ulcer disease. The “Y” comes from the similarity of the stick figure representation of the procedure to the letter “Y” itself. It has been modified and used in many other surgical procedures. Today a Roux-En-Y gastric bypass can sometimes be referred to as a “Roux”.
- Burns
- Physical TherapyDr. Walton attended Oklahoma State University and studied chemical engineering with a pre-med option. During the summer after his junior year of college, he suffered a devastating injury from an oil field explosion. The explosion resulted in severe burns over 75 percent of his body, requiring 20 operations, two months of hospitalization initially, and one year of intensive physical therapy. Despite a three percent chance of survival, he returned to college in one year and started medical school two years after the explosion.
- Back Pain
- Plantar Fasciitis“I honestly led a pretty active life before surgery. I worked full time and ran a yard card business on the side. I traveled often and loved being outdoors. But it was hard too. Plane seats were tight. My plantar fasciitis hurt every night after placing signs. I seemed to sweat and struggle more than most people. My back hurt often and, while I didn’t fully realize it, my energy levels were fairly low.”
