Provided by YP.comYesterday, 12/8/2009, my mother, Yulanda Habekott, bought a pair of headphones for $5 at Store #1849, located at 436 E. 1st St. in Dumas, TX. She bought the headphones for me with my money. When I got home I tried to use them and discovered that they didn't work properly, so I decided to return them today, 12/9/2009. Unfortunately, though, my mother had lost the reciept for them. Because of the fact that she had lost the receipt, I asked only for in-store credit for the amount of the purchase price. I was told that Dollar General only gives in-store credit if the package is either unopened or there is a receipt. Well, I told my mother what I had learned and she went to the store to talk with management herself in hopes that a compromise could be worked out. When she got there she was told that the store
manager wasn't there, but that if she'd leave the headphones there, the cashier would call the manager and discuss the situation and then call her to let her know something. About an hour later, me, my mother and father returned
to the store in order to learn what the manager's decision was. I went in alone and was told that the manager still refused to grant in-store credit nor a refund. At that time, I reminded the cashier that me and my family have done
business with Dollar General at leat twice a week, every week, ever since there was a Dollar General in Dumas. And that because of this store's refusal to be reasonable, that we will no longer be doing business with Dollar General
ever again. I then asked for the headphones back. The cashier cussed me out and refused to give me a refund. The whole situation is ridiculous. The fact that Dollar General has headphones in their possession that my mother purchased and is unwilling to refund her for is theft. The cussing and unwillingness to work out some sort of comprimise
is just plain bad business.
