I moved away from Dodge City just shortly after Sarocha's opened, and I miss it horribly. I live in Wichita now and I've found a lot of good restaurants, but few that provide as high-quality food and service. I've actually known the owner for years, and his family had a history in the restaurant business, so it seemed a natural fit for him. Even so, I was frankly amazed at what he and his wife managed to produce. Sarocha's is the best dining experience in town, and I make sure to stop in each and every time I return to visit my family... and they still eat there about every week.

Deja Vu and More

This is one of my main highlights when visiting family and friends. Since I grew up in the area I still remember many of the dishes that the current owners grandfather prepared, and thankfully, many of these receipes were passed down. [The Almond Chicken and the 'original' egg rolls are 2 in particular]. However, the owner has his own receipes more in the Thai tradition that are just as memorable, like his Silver Noodle Soup or his Satay Chicken with his version of peanut sauce or his Larb Salad, just to name a few. Though I'm not big on curry, I've heard from those who are that his is great.

So, if you plan to eat there, call a day or two ahead and have some of the 'original' egg rolls [grandfather's receipe'] made up, since these are not on his regular menu, you won't be disappointed. Also, if you go with a large group, like I did on my last visit [there were 8 of us], more than likely everyone will order something different, instead of waiting for all the dishes to come out at once have them brought out as they are ready and pass around family style. This way you can experience each dish by its own merits and your table isn't overflowing with dishes.

Enjoy!

Not Just Best in Town

Sarocha's rates very well with other top Thai restaurants I have visited throughout the US. Nothing else compares in town, but that isn't saying much in Dodge. All the food is freshly prepared and all dishes have a distinct flavor. The chef is really good with spices. The buffet is at lunch and so when dining in at night make sure you give them enough time to prepare your meal. If you are looking to get in and out in 10 minutes at dinner time you should go to one of the other places that serve their Asian cuisine out of a can- trust me that is true. Anyways, give them proper time to prepare your meal and you will not be disappointed. Weekend lunch buffets are especially great.
