3/15/13. Now 10 yrs since moving to Dobbs Ferry. At first I mostly used H_ome D_epot - 4 miles and 19 minutes away -- but within 1 yr, I found that using Reader's was a huge time AND money saver. E.g., for a number of projects, they often found a way to make a group of small parts work that cost me $4 or $5, say, instead of having to re-place old but still good piping, saving me many multiples at HD (e.g. to hook a new washing machine to existing water pipes). On many items they are significantly cheaper than the hardware stores in Tarrytown or Ardsley, e.g., simple light switches and boxes -- even tubes of 100% silicone -- will be 30%-50% cheaper at Readers. They also have a great selection of household appliances & goods, reasonable cost, e.g., Mr. Coffee makers, mixers, motion-detecting light fixtures, copy paper, gardening stuff, light bulbs of all types. Salt for winter driveways? $4-$5, no rip-offs for storms, etc. For me on retirement income, Reader's is a huge help.
