Incorporated in 1985, SMVI, also known as Southern Maryland Vocational Industries, is a nonprofit corporation that serves graduating students. It offers residential and individual support services. The organization provides individualized community support and vocational services for adults with developmental disabilities. It also offers social and economic assistance services. SMVI serves people suffering from mental retardation, as well as cerebral palsy, deafness, blindness, hypothermia, seizures, ulcers, autism, scoliosis, depression and asthma. Additionally, the organization provides assistance with food, shopping and laundry services. It offers house and vehicle maintenance services. SMVI also provides medical, as well as case management and respite care services.
