Let's talk.Long before the advent of ecological awareness, Mr. Harry Zussman built a business from scratch by recycling used burlap bags from farmers, ranchers and the grain and feed industry. Starting on his own in 1914, Harry would clean, patch, sort, bale and resell the bags, while creating a reputation as an honest, reliable and hard working businessman along the way. Deliveries were made by horse drawn wagons, and the companys equipment was limited to sewing machines, a vacuum bag cleaner, a printing press, a mechanical baler and the strong backs and arms of the Central Bag employees.Ben Zussman joined his fathers business in 1932 when Central Bag relocated to a larger facility on 19th and Blake St. along a railroad siding, just across from what would later become the Colorado Rockies baseball stadium site. Soon, the first hand cranked adding machine was acquired. . Expansion continued into new markets including importation of jute fabric, multiwall paper bags, furniture pads and broader lines of packaging materials.Bens reputation as being honesty and reliable applied to buying and selling. On his word or hand shake, customers and suppliers alike knew they were in good hands.A second relocation occurred in 1959 when the growing company moved into the 11,000 square foot facility built at 2715 Blake St. With hard work, dedication and unwavering commitment to both its suppliers and customers satisfaction, CBBC continued to grow with third generation members joining the business in the 1970s.
