Understanding, Validating, Empowering.

General Info

My name is Tracey M. Gagne; and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Georgia with more than 7 years of experience working with adults in hospitals, residential treatment settings, and out in the community, providing both individual and group therapies. I have experience in CBT, DBT, and the teachings of AA and other like groups. Before entering the mental health profession, I worked in a women's health center where I was able to observe that there are some medical conditions that can happen repeatedly around anniversaries of important negative emotional life events if these events are left undiscussed or are invalidated in some way- it was then that I decided that I wanted to work with individuals to help them appropriately manage these events emotionally, so that they didn't have to continue to experience other difficulties as the result. My private practice is dedicated to providing therapy services for the unique needs of all women with a specialty in maternal mental health. I work with clients before, during, and after pregnancy. One of my professional goals is to help increase awareness and lessen the stigma of maternal mental health with the hopes that more women will get treatment. I also see clients who have issues unrelated to maternal mental health. My approach incorporates the methodologies that I've been using in practice and is meant to meet the unique needs of each individual as well as partnering with my client to create attainable goals. I am particularly interested in the importance of mindfulness practice as a way of being able to find balance with whatever happens in our daily lives, and in the importance of the mind-body connection by recognizing that physical and medical health is important to emotional well-being, and vice versa. I believe that feeling empowered is an important part of the therapeutic process, and it's one of my goals as a therapist to help my clients feel understood, validated, and empowered to make the change that they seek in their lives. I participate in professional development and supervision regularly so that I may practice ethically and so that I may keep up-to-date with the most current methods in mental health practice. I am a member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia, as well as a National Certified Counselor.
