We were in town visiting from Texas. Chicken fried steak is standard fare for us, but Iowa is known for deep fried pork tenderloins. We've tried several and I wasn't impressed.
We stumbled on Kelly's Irish Pub looking for a beer and maybe a decent tenderloin. To put it mildly, we got a "Texas sized" tenderloin that would rival anything in Texas made with beef.
It was a large portion of extremely tender pork deep fried in a delicious crunchy batter. My wife is from Iowa and said she has never had one better than this.
The waitress mentioned that the owner prides himself on providing freshly prepared food made from scratch.
We can't wait to try this outstanding place again.

If you ever find yourself in Davenport Iowa looking for an Irish pub then by all means avoid Kelly’s Irish Pub and Eatery. This is not an Irish pub by any stretch of the imagination. The décor looks like someone was designing an “Irish pub” ride for an amusement park and ran out of money about half way through. The music, which was played extremely loudly making conversation almost impossible, started out hip-hop and then switched to country-western. No Irish music of any type was ever played.

I ordered a ruben sandwich, standard Irish-American pub fare, and a Guinness. The beer was fine. The sandwich was lightly grilled chunks of corned beef, not shaved and layered slices, on bread with cheese. The sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing were severed in small plastic cups on the side. It was every bit as tasty as it sounds.

Kelly’s Irish Pub and Eatery is actually more of a hybrid sports bar (and a bad one at that) and a country-western club with a few Irish style decorations here and there. Guinness on tap does not an Irish bar make.
