The facility is amazing, but with $200k donated from someone's will it should be an above extraordinary facility. The facility is not the problem, the "Staff" is. The second you walk in you are not even greeted, and when you go up to the counter you are finally greeted by an extremely rude and ignorant old woman who is nothing but nasty and looks down upon you the entire time you chat. They are the most populated animal shelter, by choice not just because. They do not want their animals adopted out, but rather live and die in a steel cage with one litter box with three other cats. (Yet one of the questions on THEIR MANY forms ask if you know that every cat needs its own litter pan...) This shelter judges you the second you walk in the door you are a low life nobody to them. I suggest not going to this shelter if you have animals, if their not licensed they won't even consider letting you adopt. The way this shelter is ran made me never want to go to another shelter, though I love rescuing animals.Also if you cannot adopt but have filled out their 20 pages of questions with personal information, they keep it. They would not return my personal information until I mentioned I was calling the police if they wouldn't hand it over. they claimed to have "Shredded" it yet the old cranky woman still produced the personally information packed I had just filled out. I went to Campbell County Animal Shelter and had a completely different experience, shelter wasn't as nice but the staff actually cared about you and the animals I would recommend Campbell if you are considering rescuing or adoption less than 5 miles apart and totally opposite shelters.

I grew up in down town Covington, Loved the walks to town when I was a little girl with my family. Miss stores like Penny's, dime store, Covington Chili all the old shop. Many memorie's.
