The City of Covington Police Department, under the leadership of Chief Thomas E. Schonecker, is a force of nearly 110 men and women. The department has been recognized for its professionalism and efforts in community policing. The Covington Police Department is dedicated to the citizens, businesses and visitors of the City of Covington. The mission of the Covington Police Department is to interact with all the citizens of Covington to improve the quality of life in the community. With an emphasis on controlling and preventing crime, the department promotes a safe and secure environment through effective and responsive delivery of police services throughout the community. The patrol bureau provides professional services to the citizens of Covington 24 hours each day, seven days a week. The three shifts and traffic bureau are comprised of highly trained and divers officers and supervisors. The patrol Bureau consists of nearly 75 sworn officers and one civilian cadet.
