North Star Mutual is a regional insurance company providing property and casualty insurance protection for homes, autos, farms and businesses. The home office is located in Cottonwood. Minn. The company was organized and chartered in 1920. Its home office 140 miles west of Minneapolis and it employs 150 people. It insures customers in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Oklahoma and all policies are written through independent agencies. The Oklahoma business is managed by the Oklahoma General Agency. North Star is the largest writer of Minnesota farm business. Employees work out of a modern 51,500 square foot office building that was initialy constructed in 1968 and additions were added in 1979 and 1995.
