Founded in 1868, the Columbus Division of Police is a part of the Public Safety Department of the city of Columbus, Ohio. The division offers public safety services through cooperative interaction with the community and various public and private agencies. It is organized into various subdivisions that offer administrative, investigative, patrolling and support services. The Columbus Division of Police maintains a strategic response bureau that works with citizens to decrease crime in neighborhoods and provides educational opportunities related to crime prevention, neighborhood blockwatch program and personal safety. The division also handles criminal issues related to narcotics and focuses on the enforcement of laws and regulations pertaining to prostitution, gambling, morality and liquor code. In addition, it offers traffic, communication, technical and training services. The Columbus Division of Police is located in Columbus, Ohio.
