- Cervical CancerThe American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) as well as the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) recommend that pap smear screening should begin at age 21. Screening before age 21 should be avoided as it may lead to unnecessary treatment in women who have a very low risk of developing cervical cancer.
