- Medical Weight LossLiposuction is the most common cosmetic surgery procedure performed in the United States. Liposuction is a technique used to improve a person's body contour by removing unwanted fat deposits from specific areas of the body, including the chin, neck, cheeks, upper arms, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves, and ankles. Liposuction is not a substitute for weight reduction, but a method of removing localized fat that does not respond to dieting and exercise. These fat cells are permanently removed.

- ChemotherapyReconstruction has no known effect on recurrence of disease in the breast, nor does it impair the detection of recurrent disease. Breast reconstruction also does not generally interfere with postoperative chemotherapy or radiation treatments, if needed.
- IontophoresisIontophoresis is used for cases of excessive sweating which do not respond to treatment with antiperspirants. It is usually used for hands and feet.
- Radiation TherapyIdeal candidate should not have any severe medical conditions such cardiac disease, pulmonary disease, or clotting abnormalities. Implant reconstruction is less stressful to the body than other methods. In most cases, if a patient is a good candidate for mastectomy, she will be a candidate for an implant reconstruction, as well. In contrast to TRAM and DIEP reconstruction, patients with previous surgical procedures on the abdomen may have an implant reconstruction. Please review your previous surgeries with Dr. Soltanian during your consultation. The main reason to avoid an implant reconstruction is the need for radiation to the breast area. Radiation therapy renders the skin less suitable for expansion and coverage of an implant. In rare and exceptional cases, an implant reconstruction can be attempted after radiation therapy.
- General SurgeryDr. Hooman Soltanian, Associate Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Johns Hopkins University was the Interim Chair of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, OH. He joined the Hopkins faculty in May 2017 to start a collaborative effort with WellSpan Health to provide full spectrum of plastic surgical services to the patients in South-Central Pennsylvania.
- Joint ReplacementA mild electric current is conducted through water through the skin. This current, along with the mineral particles in the water cause microscopic thickening of the outer layer of the skin which can block the flow of sweat to the surface. At the beginning of the treatment the process is repeated every other day for five to 10 days or until the sweating is reduced to the desirable level. During the procedure the feet, hands or both are placed in shallow containers of water for short period of time between, 20 to 40 minutes. After achieving the desired level of sweat reduction, a maintenance program ranging from one treatment per week to once every four weeks will be established and modified based on patient's response. Iontophoresis is not indicated in pregnant women, and patients with electronic implants (e.g. pace maker) and large implanted metallic objects (e.g. Joint replacement).

- Botox® Cosmetic is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). BOTOX
- Brow LiftThe best candidate for a brow lift is a man or woman whose eyebrows have begun to descend, making the patient appear tired, sad, or angry. Prominent and deepened frown lines are another indication for surgery. Most patients are in their forties to sixties, or younger if there is a hereditary factor present in the family. Forehead rejuvenation is most commonly performed through an endoscopic approach.
- Eyelid SurgeryThe best candidates for eyelid surgery are men and women who are physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in their expectations. Most are in their mid thirties and older, but if you have a family predisposition to droopy and baggy eyelids you may decide to have eyelid surgery at a younger age.
- LiposuctionConsultation for liposuction consists of a thorough discussion of the patient's expectations and concerns. An extensive evaluation of the patient's body contour and skin, including photographs, will be performed. The available surgical options and Dr. Soltanian’s recommendations will be reviewed, including the limitations and risks of surgery. Liposuction may be performed in conjunction with other procedures such as a "tummy tuck".
- Breast AugmentationBreast augmentation or augmentation mammaplasty is the surgical procedure to enhance and enlarge a woman's breasts with the use of breast implants. Saline and Silicone Gel implants are used most commonly for breast augmentation.
- Breast ReductionBreast reduction is a procedure to reduce the size as well as lift and shape heavy, sagging breasts. Breast reduction is usually performed for physical relief of symptoms rather than simply cosmetic improvement. In many cases the procedure is covered by the health insurances.
- Breast LiftBreast lift, or "mastopexy" is a procedure to lift and reshape sagging breasts. Sagging breasts may be the result of pregnancy, nursing or age because of the effects of gravity and physiologic changes within the breast tissue. As the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts often lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag.
- RhinoplastyRhinoplasty is the name of the procedure commonly known as the “nose job”. Its goal is to improve the appearance of the nose. Rhinoplasty can affect the shape of the nose in many different ways, reducing or increasing the size of the nose, changing the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrowing the span of the nostrils, etc. It may also correct congenital or traumatic deformities. In certain group of patients, it can improve the breathing and straighten a deviated septum. Depending on the start point, changes achieved by rhinoplasty may be subtle or dramatic. The goal of aesthetic rhinoplasty is to create a natural improvement in the appearance of the nose so that it is in balance with the rest of the face. Septal surgery to improve the nasal breathing may be covered by the insurance.
- Breast ReconstructionRecent advances in breast cancer diagnostic and management allow for breast preserving treatments. However, a large group of patients require mastectomy which adds significantly to the emotional and physical stress of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Depression after mastectomy is very common and resembles mourning in the same way as individuals would mourn the loss of a loved one. Negative psychological consequences of mastectomy can be significantly reduced by breast reconstruction.
- Plastic SurgeryWith the recent advances in Plastic Surgery and cosmoceuticals there are many ways to counter these changes and maintain a younger, healthier, and more attractive look.
- Face LiftBest candidates for facelift are men and women with moderate to severe sagging of the facial soft tissue and some residual elasticity of the skin. The patient should be in good health. Smokers have a higher chance of peri-operative complications, such as skin loss and wound healing problems. Most patients are in their forties to sixties.
- Neck LiftFace and neck lift (Rhytidectomy) are procedures to rejuvenate the face. The main goal of facial rejuvenation is to achieve a natural, well rested, and more youthful appearance. An “operated look” is to be avoided. The areas addressed with Rhytidectomy are the jowls, neck, jaw line, deep creases around the mouth and sagging cheeks. This is done by various methods including removing unwanted fat, repositioning of the underlying tissues of the face and neck, and redraping of the skin.
- BlepharoplastyConsultation for blepharoplasty consists of an extensive evaluation and discussion of the patient's expectations and concerns. A history and evaluation of the patient's eyes and eyelids will be performed. The available surgical options and Dr. Soltanian’s recommendations will be reviewed, including the limitations and risks of the surgery. Photographs will be reviewed.
- AbdominoplastyAbdominoplasty or "tummy tuck," is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. The procedure can significantly reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen.

- Laser ResurfacingCO2 Laser resurfacing involves the use of a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser to treat areas of damaged or wrinkled skin. It is effective for treating fine to medium sized lines, particularly around the mouth and eyes. However, it is also effective for treating facial lines and scars and areas of uneven pigmentation. Often the procedure is done in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures. The goal of laser resurfacing is to create a rejuvenated appearance to the facial skin or areas treated.

- Chemical PeelsIn general, the more aggressive the resurfacing procedure is, the more prolonged the recovery is likely to be. "Light" resurfacing procedures, such as superficial chemical peels or superficial laser resurfacing, offer shorter recovery times. However, these lighter procedures may need to be repeated multiple times to achieve results comparable to those achieved with more aggressive techniques.

- AllergiesRestylane® has been used since 1996 worldwide. It has been used in more than 3 million treatments in over 60 countries. The FDA has approved Restylane® for wrinkles and folds like the ones from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial fold). It can be used for other applications such as lip augmentation. There is no allergy testing required. After the treatment there might be some redness and swelling. This will normally last less than a week. Extreme heat and cold should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappear.
