- Primary CareWhen your insurance states that you need a referral, it is your responsibility to obtain a referral from your Primary Care Physician PRIOR to your visit with our orthopedic doctor. We must have the referral in our office by the time of your appointment, or we will have to reschedule your appointment for a later date. Insurance contracts do not allow retroactive referrals anymore. Failure to adhere to the above procedure will deem any Specialist appointment you make your own financial responsibility.
- Emergency CareIf you have a life-threatening emergency, always dial 911 first. One of our doctors is always available for urgent orthopaedic problems. When the office is closed, call tour answering service Bay Area Medical Exchange, (727) 562-6713 and our answering service will reach the doctor on call. Our doctors respond to emergencies at the following area hospitals.
- Carpal Tunnel SyndromeDr. Marcotte specializes in the evaluation and treatment of the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, and shoulder, and microvascular reconstruction. Conditions treated include trauma, arthritis, sports injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, fractures and cysts, as well as peripheral nerve and vascular disorders. He is trained in arthroscopy, microsurgical, vascular, reconstructive, and small joint replacement surgery, including minimally invasive endoscopic carpal tunnel release. He is one of few hand surgeons in the state who regularly performs needle aponeurotomy for Dupuytren’s contracture.

- Joint ReplacementDr. Howell is a native of Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He attended Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor’s degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He went on to receive his Medical Doctorate from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia where he was also inducted into the medical honors society. Following medical school, Dr. Howell remained at Drexel University for five years of orthopaedic surgery residency training with extensive experience in joint replacement and trauma surgery. He was selected as Chief Resident during his final year. He then completed a fellowship in Sports Surgery at University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. His fellowship encompassed all areas of sports surgery, in addition to an emphasis on shoulder replacement and hip arthroscopy.
- Hand SurgeryFrom 2003 to 2008, Dr. Marcotte completed his Internship and Orthopedic Residency programs at Grandview Hospital and Medical Center, Ohio University, in Dayton, Ohio. He was nationally honored with the Merck Outstanding Resident of the Year Award during his chief year. Dr. Marcotte fulfilled three resident externships in hand surgery at Indiana Hand Center in Indianapolis; Philadelphia Hand Center in Philadelphia; and Hand Surgery Specialists in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He is a member of both the American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants. These options include injections, physical therapy, bracing and other anti- inflammatory agents to help reduce pain from arthritis. Dr. Herrema specializes in revisions of failed or older surgeries that need reparation or refinement.

He offers joint preservation techniques for knee arthritis and state of the art computer-assisted navigation for hip and knee replacement. Dr. Hughes also specializes in sports medicine, serving since 1989 as a team physician to the Philadelphia Phillies. In addition to the specialized services that Dr. Hughes provides, he also treats all types of orthopaedic related problems.
- Knee ArthroscopyAfter completing his undergraduate degree, he remained at MSU to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. He also did several specialty rotations including sports medicine, trauma and total joint arthroplasty at the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan and University Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV. After residency, he completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction and total joint arthroplasty at Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida in Fort Myers, Florida. During fellowship, he performed or participated in over 1,000 total joint arthroplasty procedures, including anterior hip, partial knee resurfacing, revision hip and knee replacement, and total shoulder replacement. He received additional training in robotic- assisted partial knee and hip replacement as well as knee arthroscopy.

- Occupational TherapyRobert joins our practice as physician assistant to Dr. Anthony Marcotte. Robert was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut. He attended Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut and received his Bachelors of Science in occupational therapy in 2002. He began his rehabilitation career focusing on outpatient orthopedic management and later obtained advanced certification in the hand and upper extremity by the HTCC. He has been recognized for his upper extremity splinting skills with specialty training in arthritis and fracture management, cumulative trauma disorders, and flexor and extensor tendon injuries.

- Manual TherapyWinston graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Santo Thomas. He has nineteen years of clinical experience with fifteen years in orthopaedics. Winston is currently working on his certification in Manual Therapy from the University of St. Augustine to be completed in 2008. He has been the leader in the Physical Therapy department at Orthopaedic Specialties since 1993.
