General Info

The Friends of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County (FPL) is a nonprofit organization run almost entirely by dedicated volunteers. We are Cincinnatians who are passionate about books, reading, and literacy.We want to insure that EVERYONE in our community has access to affordable, quality used books and media. Nearly 100,000 donated titles are available for purchase between our two locations. (Our flagship Used Book Store at the Warehouse is located in Hartwell, and The Friends’ Shop can be found in the Main Library Downtown) Our customers rely on us for a myriad of reasons. We stock all kinds of books from self-help to whodunits, from classic literature to graphic novels. The money we generate from our book sales, gift shop sales, membership dues, grants, and recycling is funneled back into our community via Library services. We are proud to underwrite hundreds of Library programs, fund book acquisitions, finance new equipment, and advocate for the Library with state lawmakers in Columbus. Come browse our shelves to find you next favorite treasure...just make sure you give yourself enough time. People have tendency to get lost in our shelves.
