I thought by checking my manufactured home dealer's BBB rating that I was doing my homework. I never thought to check the ratings of the contractors involved in my land improvements! The first bad review I heard was from a lady at Slemco, while I was setting up my electricity, we shared experiences of the home buying/land improvement process. When I told her S&S was doing my work, her look was priceless! Both her and her family had less than acceptable experiences with this company. One involving dirt that was paid for, and only receiving half...and then a story of a cracked sewer system that was installed, EVEN though the workers admitted they knew it was cracked. After hearing this, I THEN decided to check the BBB rating of S&S, and I shouldn't have been, but was, shocked to see the score of an "F'. They have taken on so many jobs, that if you have a problem, you can't get anyone to come see about it! As soon as I noticed I had a leak, I called S&S immediately! "Well I don't know when we will be able to have someone to go out there, but I'll put in a work order, and they'll call you..that's all I can tell you"...exact words! We are on day 9, and I've yet to have a call, or a visit from S&S to fix their work. Many manufactured homes deal with S&S...do yourself a favor and before you complete your sale, check your contractors BBB rating. And, if one of those contractors is S&S, you'd might want to think about INSISTING to go with another company. Unless, you enjoy subpar workthat isn't honored by the company.
