I started seeing Dr. Sherman for couple's counseling. She was also seeing my husband privately. I found out my husband had committed adultery on two occasions and that Dr. Sherman was aware of this fact. My husband and I did not begin couples counseling until some time after he'd been seeing Dr. Sherman. It was not Dr. Sherman's responsibility to inform me of my husband's affairs however, being aware of that fact, the ethical thing to do would have been to decline facilitating our couples counseling unless my husband told me of the affairs. I think her behavior was totally unethical and humiliating for me that both she and my husband knew of his indiscretions. Whatever issues I thought we were having, apparently I didn't know the half of it. As a paying client, regardless of her relationship with my husband individually, I beleive she had a responsibility to decline being our mutual therapist. I am humiliated and will never see her again.
