It is with disappointment and sadness that I post this review about the School Street location. First of all, I have been a client of this location for several months so I have given this school the benefit of the doubt with it being new to the community. For the welfare of my child, my husband and I decided to pull our child and transition my child to a different program as I have continue to see a breakdown between communication, leadership accountability, and engagement among the parents.

Over the last few months, my child has endure an endless amount of turnover among the staff (8 in one year), lack of empathy regarding the parents/staff's concerns related to the school management, not adhering to DCFS standards (policies being in placed like current child documentation), and the narcissistic personality of the director to manage the school as she sees fit or what her time permits (she lives in a different state and works only part-time) versus what is beneficial for the child, staff or school. In addition, she prides herself to the parents on knowing all the children at the school but if you see her interactions with the children it is mostly with her own child versus the other kids. Personally this level of professionalism would not be tolerated in any other industries but for some reason is it acceptable with the care of our children. It is sad to see someone so unfit for the role being put in a position of power who lacks the interpersonal skills to really position the school as a best-in-class Montessori program.

My child is already in a different school where they focus on his well-being, director is engaged with the parents and staff (responds to email-Gasp!!), and hit development milestones that would have taken months to reach at the School Street Location. While the teachers are dedicated to the children and parents, they are not allowed to be empower to make the classroom their own.

There are other schools, daycare's, early childhood development programs out there where you will have better experience (less headaches and frustration too) than at Prairieland Montessori.

This rating is for the School Street location.

I cannot agree more with Katie K's review. We wasted far too much time at Prarieland and my son was behind developmentally because of it. It took him a few months to catch up but he's finally on track at his new daycare which we love. I mirror everything she says. The communication is abhorrent, the room was always a mess, the teachers were unable to tell me anything about my child's day. We eventually pulled my son after an incident that I witnessed which we considered to be actually dangerous to my son's health. Some friends and family were pushing us to file a lawsuit. STAY AWAY at all costs.

It is with much disappointment that I write this review, however parents need to know that they should stay away from this daycare/school. The lack of communication and professionalism from the teachers and staff is truly outrageous. The owner and director of the school should truly be ashamed of themselves for prioritizing their own agenda ahead of the children and parents. The amount of families that have pulled out of Prairieland Montessori is yet another reason to look at other schools. On a very personal note, the difference in my child's behavior since leaving Prairieland and moving on to another school is like night and day. Bottom line . . . look at other schools!

Horrible experience. The director of the new location on School Street postponed the tour with me for three weeks and when i finally got to tour the place told me I am first on the waiting list because all spots were filled in the meantime. I can only image how they treat the kids, if this is how they treat potential parents. Definitely NOT sending my kid there!

Overpriced, and does not have an outdoor play area. Location is unsafe for children. It is at a very busy intersection, under L tracks and across the street from a bar.
