So now a family of fifteen are here now at this horrible shelter! They make a mess everywhere call the children retarded b's, one is Autistic and they let him poop and urinate on himself and the moma doesn't clean it up, they have the bathrooms nasty like a gas station one, they don't bathe and when they do a horrid mess is left for others to clean up! Children are disruptive (even the Autistic one) and disrespectful, cursing, just like the moma. Yesterday there was a fire, and the asinine moma left one of the babies in a stroller in the hallway, another client took the baby down the stairs, and moma was already outside. If I did this with my child he would be in state custody. The staff lets them run and fight in the hallways, in the dining area and pretty much wherever the hell they want to. Jumping in the beds, acting like savages or cavemen and women. They are so unfair, and it seems as if the case manager is on crack or something, she has been acting weird for a long time.

I have been here less then a week and hate it already! As soon as we got here, got added to chore list, the other family didn't, then two clients are constantly coming in late, (clearly after partying) with no late excuse, laughing at everything & sleeping, smelling like alcohol, and weed. I thought these actions were automatic discharges, you know with the "so called" zero tolerance policy in affect. I mean its bad enough, we are homeless, then we have to clean up behind lazy "grown females" it is okay to have chores, but all new comers should have to clean as well. I mean, I will have clean to once I get my place, but come on. Really?

I have been here for less than a month. I have realized, just from observing, that some do chores and some don't, it's like staff is afraid of some of the clients. Usually you get a chore when you first get here. Then they have these nasty female clients preparing food. Two to four of them don't clean there bodies, much less there hands. Then you have those, bullying staff members who act as if their poop doesn't stink. Who does that? Then they talk about us in whispering voices, knows some are on a strict diet but talks about clients behind their backs, doing juvenile sophomoric things as if we're in grade school. Then the people who are over the staff act about as simple as the staff. One family doesn't eat pork chops, why did they try to feed them that anyway. I don't know what's worse the bedbugs, the nasty clients, spoiled/outdated food, or the rude unprofessional staff. Not all staff is unprofessional, but some of them need to go, going around calling clients girl bye! We aren't friends. We're homeless not friends with enemies.

I Love The Staff, They REALLY CARE ABOUT US. We have a New Director and I think she is doing A Great Job (not to take away from the one that left), Shes so Funny and Very Loved and Respected. I'm Blessed to be here

I am currently a client at amani house I have been here 2 months. When I first came I felt truly blessed because I heard it was "the best" of all the shelters, when I first came the place was really peaceful and it felt like a blessed place. I saw women moving out having been placed in their own homes I was really excited to see a place help us, about a week later the director was fired and a new inexperienced one took her place. Since she has come, every week mothers are being evicted for the smallest most pettiest reasons, some being packed in garbage bags while they are out. One woman for not doing her chore, one woman for her son having her eyebrow archer(not doing anything just holding it) others for just petty reasons. None of us can focus because we don't know when our turn will come. You hear them plotting and gossiping about the clients, its like the new director evicts the mothers so that it looks like the mothers have failed the program rather than acknowledge that the program is failing us. The city was called but when they came everyone was too afraid to tell the truth so they lied to keep a roof over their head. The new director carries herself like a hood person who finally has some power so she flexes at every opportunity. I wish the city would look at the difference between when the other director was here and now that she's here. There are rodents running around the kitchen all over the counters, waterbug infestation, flooding in rooms when it rains, and the food is barely being cooked. We always see empty boxes for things we never ever eat. Someone needs to do a thorough investigation into this place. Don't come out and be so impresses with the cleanliness, its our chore and if we don't do it they evict us. Dig. Ask questions. Locate newly discharged clients. Its like the mob has taken over this place and their goal is to break our sense of self and remind us constantly that we are pitiful and homeless. By the way, we saw them deliver juice for us but we never get it, instead they give us the bottles of sno cone juice to add water to and we have to drink that. (I don't). Please please bring back the old director or get rid of the new one and her case manager who is also the worst legion. Her first nae starts with a j. Thank you.
