I worked at this location for ...

I worked at this location for about two years, and from my experience as an employee I will no longer shop at the Dierberg's grocery chain. I worked mainly in the deli, and it was disturbing to see what Dierberg's management would ignore for the sake of saving money. There were a couple of times where our slicers were in such disrepair, that moldy food and rotten gunk was getting stuck in a part of the slicer, which we were unable to clean. I reported this to three different Dierberg's managers, but they said it was fine. Well I personally don't consider rotten old putrid food, coming into contact with what I'm slicing for customers to be "fine." I considered reporting them to the health department or some kind of state agency, but I didn't want to risk losing my job.

If you see something on sale in the hot case in the deli, don't buy it. Except for the regular dishes like fried chicken, mashed potatoes, or mac n' cheese, most of the rest of what's put in there is on it's last day before it expires. It made me feel bad to sell food to people when i knew it wouldn't last more than a day or so at home in their fridge, but I had no choice, otherwise I would lose my job.

Another thing is that Bob Dierberg is an awful, awful, awful, awful man. He treats his employees poorly, and his customers even worse. I've seen multiple occasions where Bob Dierberg would be in line checking out and realize he forgot something, then makes 3 customers behind him wait, until he comes back with what he forgot. Another time, I've seen him run out of cash, then make everybody wait until he could walk back from First Bank with more cash, BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO USE A CREDIT CARD SO HE COULD SAVE THE 2% ON TRANSACTION FEES!! He does not care one bit about the people who buy their groceries from him, or the people who work there. I've heard that his son is worse, but I've never met him, so I can't say honestly as to whether that is true or not.

Try visiting a local schnucks or Trader Joe's next time you need groceries, I think you'll be pleased and save a lot of money as well...

Amazing Bakery

If you love fruit, check out the fruit tort that they make here. It's not a cheap cake, but the most delicious dessert in the world. Every once in a while, they'll make one or two, but you usually have to special order it. Definitely worht it!
