- Primary CareCallie Powell, DNP, FNP-C is a Dermatology and Family Nurse Practitioner at Dermatology and Laser Center of Charleston. As past Director of Research at Dermatology and Laser Center of Charleston/Clinical Research Center of the Carolinas, Callie hopes to bring her prior experience in Dermatology research and recent experience in primary care to her patients as a Dermatology Nurse Practitioner. Callie is family-focused and brings that passion to her patients as a board-certified family nurse practitioner, which allows her to serve the Dermatology needs of all ages. Like many other native Charlestonians, Callie’s favorite activities other than caring for members of the Charleston community are boating, fishing, and crabbing in the beautiful waters around Charleston.
- Family PracticeDuring his career, Dr. Schlesinger earned an expired acknowledgment as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the Medical University of South Carolina, when he assisted in the teaching of dermatology residents during their educational instruction in skin cancer surgery by supervising a clinic one-half day every other week at the Charleston Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. As the Director of the mentoring program at his private practice, Dr. Schlesinger also supervises the formal or informal education of many types of students including participants in the Physician Assistant Program and Family Medicine Residency Program at MUSC, estheticians, and medical students.

She started her career in the Naval Academy and obtained her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Maino’s background is heavily rooted in the Naval Services post-graduation, where she completed a general surgery internship at the Portsmouth Naval Medical Center and completed her residency at the National Capital Consortium: Bethesda. Before joining our team here at Dermatology and Laser Center to be closer to family, Dr. Maino was practicing at a private dermatology and cosmetic practice in Colorado. Dr. Maino holds valid licenses in both Colorado and South Carolina.

- Mohs SurgeryAfter residency, Dr. Schlesinger completed the requisite training and testing to become a Fellow of the American Society for Mohs Surgery and has trained in dermatologic surgery at the Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California. The completion of this training has enhanced his reputation as one of the most formidable Mohs surgeons in the low country.

In addition to her certified clinical training, Lori received extensive hands-on training with Dr. Schlesinger in all aspects of dermatology and cosmetic treatments. This includes clinically assisting Dr. Schlesinger in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, for the removal of different types of skin carcinoma. As one of the most experienced laser specialists in Charleston, she is extremely proficient in performing any type of laser service.

His guidance influences staff, students, and patients to promote awareness of health and nutrition for the skin, mind, and body.
