- Dental ExaminationPreventing dental disease starts at home with good oral hygiene which includes brushing, flossing and a well balanced diet. It also includes regular dental exams, cleanings, and x-rays by your dentist to promote, restore, and maintain your oral health.
- X-raysDigital x-rays produce a significantly lower level of radiation compared to traditional dental x-rays. Not only are they better for the health and safety of the patient, but they are faster and more comfortable to take. Additionally, the image is captured electronically, therefore there is no harmful disposal of waste and chemicals into the environment.
- Oral Cancer ScreeningJust as the field of dentistry has advanced through the years, so have our preventive services. What was often referred to as "just a cleaning", is now much more. A professional dental cleaning includes the cleaning and polishing of teeth, which most patients are familiar with. However, some of the other services include a thorough hard and soft tissue evaluation, oral cancer screening, periodontal disease screening, and much more. Your cleaning appointment will include a dental exam and the following...
- Teeth CleaningPrevention of Staining  Staining or the yellowing of teeth can be caused by a wide variety of factors such as smoking or drinking coffee and tea. Routine dental cleanings, brushing and flossing will aid in preventing the stains from becoming permanent.
- Fluoride TreatmentAlthough most people receive fluoride from food and water, sometimes it is not enough to help prevent decay. We also offer a take-home treatment that consists of the patient wearing custom made trays that are worn for a specific amount of time each day. This type of treatment occurs when a patient experiences extreme issues with decay. Certain conditions, such as dry mouth or a history of excessive cavities, may warrant the need to use this take-home fluoride treatment.
- Dental SealantsSealants consist of a plastic resin placed on the chewing surface of the permanent back teeth to help protect them from bacteria and acids that cause tooth decay. The plastic resin is placed into the depressions and grooves of the teeth and a light is used to cure it to the enamel which protects the enamel from plaque and acids.
- FillingsGold fillings are made from gold alloy which is extremely durable. Gold fillings do not match the natural color of your teeth and cost six to ten times more than amalgam, but lasts longer than any other type.
- Resin CompositeCeramic fillings are made of porcelain and look natural because they are tooth colored. They are more brittle than composite resin so can break more easily but are also more resistant to staining. One con is that ceramic fillings are expensive, costing as much or more than gold fillings.

- CrownsPeriapical provides a view of the entire tooth, from the crown to the bone that helps to support the tooth.
- BridgesA dental bridge is a false tooth, known as a pontic, which is connected to crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth or teeth. The crowns holding it in place are attached to the teeth on each side of the false tooth. This is known as a fixed bridge. This procedure is used to replace one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of your mouth as you might do with removable partial dentures.
- Dental BondingThe tooth is prepared by creating a rough surface allowing the composite material to securely adhere to the tooth. The composite material used has a putty-like consistency and is carefully chosen by the dentist to correctly match the shade of the existing and surrounding teeth. A special light is then used to cure the composite material and finalize the process of adhering it to the tooth. One benefit of dental bonding is the fact that anesthesia is rarely necessary in completing the procedure. However, this is not the case if it is being used to fill a cavity. Another benefit of bonding is the relatively low cost for obtaining an aesthetically pleasing smile without spending all the time and money that other restorations sometime entail.
- Restorative DentistryRestorative dentistry is the processes dental professionals use to replace missing or damaged teeth. Fillings, crowns (caps), bridges, full and partial dentures and dental implants are common restorative procedures. Empty spaces in the mouth are vulnerable to decay caused by plaque build-up. Additionally, gaps left by missing teeth put extra stress on your remaining natural teeth causing them to shift resulting in a bad bite. This can also lead to gum disease and TMJ disorders. The goal is to bring back your natural smile and prevent future oral health issues.
- Root Canal TreatmentA Root Canal is a treatment that is performed in an effort to save a badly damaged or infected tooth instead of removing it. The procedure involves removing the damaged area of the tooth (the pulp), cleaning and disinfecting it, then filling and sealing it to prevent further infection. Common causes affecting the pulp are a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, repeated dental treatment to the tooth or trauma such as an accident, fall or sports injury that damages the blood supply to the nerve. When a tooth has an infected nerve, there are only two options - root canal treatment or extraction.
- Deep CleaningScaling is a non-surgical deep cleaning around and below the gumline, all the way down to the bottom of the pocket, to remove plaque and tartar and any infection that may be developing or already present.
- DenturesDentures are replacements for missing teeth that can be taken out and put back into your mouth. While dentures take some getting used to, and will never feel exactly the same as one's natural teeth, today's dentures are very natural looking.
- Overdentures
- Dental ImplantsPanoramic provides a view of the teeth, jaws, nasal area, sinuses and the joints of the jaw. It is typically taken when a patient needs orthodontic treatment or dental implants.
- Tooth ExtractionsA dental extraction is exactly what it sounds like: the removal of a tooth from its socket. Here at Forest Hills Dental Associates, we will explore every option possible before extracting a tooth or referring a patient to have an extraction. However, sometimes it is the only option. When a tooth is severely damaged beyond repair it is necessary to remove the tooth. This enables us to replace the tooth or teeth with a more predictable long term solution.
- Bone Grafting
- Braces
- Teeth WhiteningFor fast and efficient whitening, we suggest supervised treatments by a dental professional. This option contains whitening agents in higher concentrations and produces quicker results than over-the-counter options. In fact, your teeth may be visibly whiter in just one visit !
- Cosmetic DentistryThanks to the advances in modern cosmetic dentistry, in most cases, we are able to improve our smiles with simple, painless and surprisingly affordable treatments. Others are more complex and require specialized care.
